I haven't read the comic (on my "to be read" list) but the trailer looks awesome! I hope it's released in this country.

Ok, now I know my French is rusty, because until you posted the trailer with subtitles, I didn't catch the last joke.
"It's not Michael Jackson, it's..it's... Malcolm X!!"
Hilarious! I can't wait to see it. -
Persepolis is currently playing at the Angelika.

Yay! I wanna go!

amazingly insightful movie especially in these politically charged Iranian-centric times
It brings the Iranian point of view home and should be a must-see for all Americans, it choked me up more than a few times... -
I just saw No Country For Old Men (awesome) at BAM yesterday, and they had a preview of Persepolis there, as well as posters. So it will be there soon, although they only promote the actual schedule a week at a time.

thx for posting that, C - I haven't made it to Persepolis yet, and I was wondering about BAM...
The Diving Bell and The Butterfly popped up there too - right after I went to Angelika. I hate Angelika. I love BAM. -
Diving bell and the butterfly is caca.
Saw juno at bam and it was surprisingly ok. plenty of cliches, and ellen page came off like a waspy sarah silverman, but on the whole it was good -- the film could have used less references to SunnyD and TicTac's.... -
Persepolis is showing at Lincoln Square Cinema! I saw it on Friday on a whim as I happened to be passing by and I had time to kill between an audition and a party I had to go to.
It was awesome! I loved the sassy and strong female characters because they remind me very much of the Iranian women I know. The grandmother was particularly great.
It was funny and deeply moving. A true work of art. -

basquiat and before night falls are both iconic movies that set the bar at ninja level, i left the diving bell underwhelmed.
the life story of an art director for a fashion magazine in an of itself is not worthy of schnabel's attention, tossing in a massive stroke still doesn't make a movie, add to this cringe-worthy shots of max von sydow drenched in crocodile tears had me shouting "liar! fake! phoney!" at the screen
-- a few wet sniffles could be heard in the theater as the movie played, so i can empathize that i wasn't the intended audience.
schnabel tried desperately to dab lipstick on this sow, with his usual magnificent imagery, especially the underwater diving scenes and all those gorgeous faces, but it wasn't enough, it still came out as a very colorful pig
...there was one scene where Jean-Do's ex-wife{Emanuelle Seigner} who was helping nurse him back to health at his bedside picked up the phone, and jean-do's current wife was on the other end, she didn't wish to come to see jean-do because she didn't wish to see him as a cripple, she asked Jean-Do if he loved her, Jean-Do said "oui" and Seigner overheard this.... if Seigner, at that moment, would have given a hard swift kick to Jean-do's crippled balls i would have left the theater clapping...
