First of all, you haven't been called evil ONCE in this thread. Go through and re-read the whole thing if you don't believe me -- I just did. And if you think that I was calling you evil when I said:

A couple of people (myself included) calmly called you on your negativity. Instead of responding calmly, you started throwing back whacked-out non-sequiturs, insults, and hostility. So of COURSE people are getting pissed off now. Try taking a deep breath before biting someone's head off and give measured responses to others and you might get more measured responses yourself.

An idea: Stars * for grat posts! and little nuggets of pooh for crappy ones. It's a democratic function, this forum, right? Let's let the people decide what is crap and what isn't. We already decided to let an incompotent ivy run the country. Can't we have some taste-freedom on the forum, too? I don't think it's a bad idea. There's negativity all over the place here. Stars * vs. poop wouldn't hurt one bit!

Well, that's really not very different than the karma idea, which most people didn't like. Also, see my comments above about what the mod we have can and can't do. That ball's in dailyheights' court.

"check yourself and don't throw that sh*t around" is awfully direct. I wouldn't be surprised if people interpret that as hostile. Does that make sense?

I don't think that anyone has ever attacked you for making a suggestion or for sharing your point of view. I think that the problem comes in when people ask you to clarify or to support your stance. To me, it seems like you interpret that as an attack, so you reply with something that might come off as witty/snarky in person, but just looks really bad in writing... at which point everything escalates and nothing too productive comes of out it. Perfect example -

Thank for doing research on me. I figured I would give it an shot and see what it was about. I thought it was a stupid thing that there was only one way to rate a post and that was positive.

What is the point of that? It's like kindergarden, and everyone gets a gold star...

I was just asking a question, man, but the tone of your reply makes it seem as if I'm out to get you, or something. No. I'm not. I just wanted to know why you wanted to expand something that you didn't like, that's all.
