Holiday cards in Park Slope

Lion in the Sun?

Possibilities in (or on) the Slope which is on 7th and Carroll (I think)
Scaredy Cat on 5th
Nancy Nancy on 5th too -
I've been thinking of having a holiday card exchange. I've got at least 10 different designs with 1 or more cards leftover from years gone by. At this point I don't know who I sent which card... so I can't send them to anyone. And I don't want to throw them out because they're decent cards.
If there are other people in the same situation, maybe we could get together and swap cards. -

why not send them to our men in Iraq,I'm sure they would glad to receive a Christmas card. -
i imagine even our women in iraq might appreciate the attention....
i know there are some security concerns regarding "to any soldier" letters -- anybody know if this is a feasible thing to do (as opposed to donating to an org that does it on a large scale)? -
That's a good idea. I'll do some research.
This seems like the kind of thing that would be more rewarding to do as a group. Maybe we could get Ozzies to host a coffee & holiday card writing event.
Would other people be interested? -

Sorry i didn't mention our women in Iraq. [it was a stupid oversight] I'm sure a VFW Post could advise how to have them sent.. -
I got my cards from Lion in the Sun. Excellent selection. I love it there.

If you do decide to pursue this idea please let me know. I also have random left-over holiday cards from years gone past that I don't know what to do with. Plus I think our troops deserve any support we can give them. I would definitely try to free up some time. -
Subject: Christmas Cards
I contacted The local VFW they don't send cards and wouldn't know who to contact.
Soldiers Angels advised we have to send cards to a specified soldier, not just anonymous.
I'll contact some of our local leaders on Monday and see how we can go about getting this done. -

Thanks for taking the bull by the horns, Hamilton. I was super busy these past few days and haven't been able to get online. I think this is a great idea and would love to use my cards this way. Thanks for keeping us posted on your detective work.

Subject: Christmas Cards
i've contacted local politicans and several branches of the armed forces and they all came back with the same response.
Cards that are sent to a specified member of our armed forces in Iraq will be sent to that soldier.
None specified will be discarded, due to the fear of explosives or any form of powders that may have anthrax or other toxins.
Sorry, I gave it my best.. -
As a vet I will gladly accept your thanks for my service in the form of Paypal donations. Cash is also acceptable, to be dropped off at my Park Slope residence during any hours I am home. 8)
