Beer Table -- new place where Tost used to be
Does anyone know anything about the new place Beer Table? The web site doesn't give much away. Looks interesting, though.

I posted on this a few weeks ago. I ran into somebody working there - I think owner or manager. He told me it was going to be pickles, sausage, and beer :?
Looks like they're finally making some progress and are close to opening -
While I love pickles, sausages and beer, and admire the fresh idea.... I sure do miss Tost!

We stopped by to peer inside the other nite when the owners were working on it. They are opening "as soon as the liquor license is final." It looks lovely in there.

Last night they seemed to have some sort of internal staff party... they had one a couple of months ago too, if I recall correctly.
-
yeah, last night they had a private party, I overheard some people talking to the person I assume was the owner. He seemed really friendly. Looks like a cool place.

Can't wait to trash it once it opens

Good one. It does look nice and a good idea.
-
sign on the door saying they are still waiting on their liquor license, that it's taking a while, but they will "stay the course"
It looks nice inside:

The "$25 tickets at the door" is a turn off. The location isn't convenient, it's cold out, I don't know what I'm paying for, and there are several similar options that don't charge $25 at the door for God Knows What. "Unusual snacks" could mean a olive oil ice cream or Cool Whip on head cheese.

actually, the location is very convenient for some of us down in south slope. but i don't drink bee, so it's out for me.
BTW, Uerige Sticke is some sort of special beer that you can only get twice a year. i have no idea if that's what makes it so expensive (though i imagine there will be gratis food as well). however, the site, even as bare bones as it is, ought to describe the event in more detail so people can make an informed decision. -

Uerige Sticke? Are you sure this isn't some marketing scheme? I can't find beans about Uerige Sticke in Wikipedia!

maybe the beer geeks aren't keeping up on their wikipedia-tending
or maybe the CIA removed it
I just read in the Harper's Index that the CIA was responsible for a minimum of 310 wikipedia edits since June 2004.
Is there anything that Index doesn't know?
Anyway, at least one of those must be about Uerige Sticke.
Try Google. -
yep, just google it

$25 - explain please, I just don't get it?? I attend wine tastings at Prospect Wine Shop on Saturdays for free! I'm putting this place on Death Watch even before it opens.
I wonder if it will end up like this? ...
-
well, again i don't drink beer so it's not like i'll ever go to this thing, but i've been to plenty of wine tastings at restaurants which come with a small meal and a lesson in the wines. those certainly aren't free.
you go to a wine store for free tastings because they are trying to sell you a product, don't forget. -

Wait a minute you guys! You jumped the gun! However, slamming a place before it opens is pre-tty good. (Insert Larry David's voice) Prett-y good.

I'd love to see something do well in that spot. Let's give them a chance to open first. It's a different idea.......maybe they can pull it off
-
The $25 is until they get their holy liquor permit from the city...it circumvents the laws so that they can actually make money while the city dawdles.
as I recall from reading the sign, the $25 gets you food and drink and is more of an educational event. Sort of like paying for a wine class at Otto in Manh.
FWIW, I think it looks like a cool place and am looking forward to its opening.
