6th Ave Park Slope Public Library needs handicapped access

I was disappointed when I went to the Brooklyn Public Library in Park Slope on 6th Ave. There is no handicapped access. How is someone in a wheel chair or a person with a baby in a stroller supposed to enter the building? Those stairs are steep! Who do I contact about getting a ramp constructed there?

  • This has frustrated me, too. I don't understand how this branch can get away with not having a ramp for wheelchairs/strollers.
There is a ramp in the back of the building (next to the library parking lot on 8th Street) and for a while, the library staff were letting people with strollers (and probably wheelchairs, too) enter that way, but they don't allow that anymore.
  • i went around back and it was very hard to get through. the cars were all parked very close to each other. i pushed the stroller up to the back door, knocked, rang the doorbell and no one answered.
  • They have an entrance in the back for the handicapped or people with strollers-I have used it many times with a double stroller. Slightly inconvenient, but worked well.
