  • My last post on this... Hamilton I know you can read so read your own post. I'm using YOUR words not mine. I'll quote you again..."Did this make me a racist,no, it just made me distrustful ." So explain how my statement is paranoid? I simply quoted what you wrote. I don't know what most people are thinking but I know what YOU think because you wrote it yourself. Again, your quote not mine...

I have friends of every race, creed, religion. I challenged you to find a racist post from me and you replied with nothing. I have no problem with any group of people. I just don't like idiots, unless they make me laugh that is ;) Enjoy the weekend...

It's been a pleasure, get help!

Aberrant behavior (assaults, harassment etc) should not be dismissed as child-like behavior, because it's not normal, child-like behavior - it's abusive and sociopathic - and to justify completely abnormal behavior as normal speaks volumes about its defenders. The type of "kids" being defended here are people-shaped animals and antisocial mental cases with a blatant disregard for others....how this can be defended by anyone who has children or loved ones is beyond me.
Yes, because teenagers never engage in violent behavior or start fights...
  • kids being kids applies to peers

I don't get the impression the guy in the video was a member of the girls' group
  • "Yes, because teenagers never engage in violent behavior or start fights..."

Normal teenagers don't don't start fights or engage in violence or verbally abuse people or steal or rape etc, etc. - malcontents and mental cases engage in that type of behavior....and oftentimes their behavior is condoned by cowardly, older mental cases.

    I don't agree.

Not rape certainly, but all of the rest? Absolutely! Thats what teenagers do! "Normal" teenagers start all sorts of trouble, including fights. I would say it might be abnormal for teenagers NOT to get into trouble of some sort! It doesnt have to be physical fights, but teenagers tend to want to do what they want. Thats why parents dread the teenage years.
  • but random violence on strangers? really? i get the arguing, the taunting, the trashtalking. i might understand physically fighting amongst themselves. but a stranger?

when and where i grew up, that would have been the exception and not the rule. no one, and i mean no one, would have defended their actions if and when they got caught.

i just can't find any reasoning or justification for what they did, and i certainly can't dismiss it as kids being kids.

oh, and just for the record... i'm a born and bred New Yorker all the way.

dont get me wrong - if I were attacked by these kids and they got caught, I would want some action taken. What I meant to say earlier is that this story doesnt shock me, or strike me as particularly troubling. "bad" kids do stupid and sometimes dangerous/criminal things. This doesnt mean they will grow up to be dangerous or criminals. Most of it comes from the pack mentality, peer pressure, thrill seeking, etc. Get them something to preoccupy them and they can easily move on to more constructive past times.
  • These young women are changing the way women will be treated in the future, if I am riding a train and this situation unfolds near or to me.

    The clip will be unloaded!

Ohh by the way I don't own a gun, but someone with a gun will take action. And lives will be destroyed.

The parents should be held accountable for providing such a burden on socity.

Being multiracial I can say all people have race issues as I catch it from 3 different sides.

    Peace
  • Those chicks are lesbians - not saying that to be funny, they're a type of 'ghetto lesbian' that travel around in packs and often get into fist fights with guys.. matter of fact, they love getting into fist fights with guys (although usually only with guys they know won't put up much of a fight). You can often find these packs around the West Village on weekend nights, along with the young ghetto gay kids, standing in front of the McDonald's on W3rd, the Papayas, etc.. anyway, they are basically harmless, which leads me to my my next point:

You guys really see this as a "beat down"? This is "disturbing" to you? All I can say is wow, I wish half of the beat downs that went down in front of me over the years were this tame. The guy came away from this with what, maybe a fat lip, MAX?? And yous are talking about shooting people over an incident like this?? You gotta be kidding me. Back in the '80s, Bernie Goetz and Co. were dealing with a whole nother level of violence than what you see in this video, trust me!! There's no comparison.

When I was in high school, a classmate of mine got stomped out by a random hoodlum on the B68 and nobody did shit, not even the driver, except to stop and let the EMT's carry the kid off after someone called 911. If this video is really that eventful, then I think we've got some seriously sheltered people around here. Can't believe this lame video even made it onto that website.
  • Ghetto leeeezzzzbians! Traveling in packs! Beating up your menfolk and preying on your helpless women! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!
  • yea, man, worse stuff has definitely happened in the past. hell, worse stuff is probably happening now. so if worse stuff has happened in the past and is still happening now, who cares? makes sense, right?
  • Subject: stuff it

It does, until you get the stuffing knocked out of you. :P

Not sure if that is supposed to be a gibe at me or my comment, but if we were to bet on whose 'street knowledge' is more up to snuff, yours or mine, I think we all know who would come out on top, so I will let that slide.

Go on with your bad self, Mr. I'm-So-Street-Smart -- you may be The Oracle of All Knowledge about Brooklyn, but I think I probably know a bit more about lesbians than you do. With that hooey about ghetto lesbians it really sounds like you get all your information on the LGBT world from Bill O'Reilly?

Ok ok once again I give in, the fact that you march in the pride parade shows that you are more knowledgeable about that video than I am. I defer to your 'lesbianess'.

My original 'gang' comment was intended with much more emphasis on 'ghetto' than on 'lesbian,' but obviously you've got a complex about it and an agenda, so..

I could really care less about who is gay or straight since it doesn't affect me, but if you would like to pin me as some 'paranoid reactionary homophobe' you can try that, although as you know I come from the place that started this whole 'liberal progressive' thing that made it ok for you to be who you are, while you only came here to be a part of it, so it looks like the joke's on you.

Going off on a tangent about *ghetto lesbians* was all your idea, Restless,
and randomly calling women *lesbians* because they are violent is just...lame.
That's why people made fun of your comment.

Is there anything else here that's on topic? Something about the train incident?

Wow - you're totally right, I know nothing about the type of female depicted in the video, because of course I haven't seen the same exact incident unfold in front of my eyes at least a half dozen times. Once again, you got me, "randomly" talking out of my ass. Maybe I will try checking the Times to tell me about what's really going on in the street. Anyway I'm done trying to talk sense in this thread.

The posturing is getting more and more absurd. Your arguments basically keep coming down to you claiming yourself as the ultimate authority on all things street. Sorry, but I call bullshit.

It's the assumptions and insulting asides you make that really cheese me off here.

I don't just "march in the pride parade" -- I've been an activist for LGBT issues for about 14 years now and I've been working on national LGBT impact litigation, public education, and youth outreach full-time for seven. This is what my career is about. So YES, I think the chances are pretty good that I know a bit more about lesbians than you do.

I'm not trying to pin you as paranoid, reactionary, or a homophobe; I don't know enough about you to know whether you're any of those things. I am, however, pinning you as talking out of your hindquarters on this one. And no, you don't get any bonus points for being from here.
  • ...Actually, I thought the whole "gangs of lesbians" comment was a really lame attempt to make a WARRIORS reference.

...eh, it's still lame, even if it wasn't...
  • In Restless Native's defense, from my experiences, there are quite a few girls in this neighborhood who enjoy picking fights. mostly with those who they don't think can or will fight back, ie white males, and other girls.

I have no idea about their sexual orientation though.
