the wafel truck comes to park slope! december 8th
hello slopers!
i thought i would let everyone know that the wafel truck - an ice-cream truck-like vehicle (think more like the mud truck) that dispenses perfect belgian wafels (and dinges - toppings!)- will be making its debut in park slope, this saturday december 8th from 11am - 6pm (?) !
they expect to be somewhere on 7th avenue between union and 5th streets. you can't miss it! it's a bright yellow truck that will smell like heavenly sweet goodness.
the website for the wafel peoples: http://www.wafelsanddinges.com
their blog: http://thedinges.blogspot.com
and for you guys, i am including what i believe to be the free-password for free toppings (dinges!) for your wafels: Eddy Merckx (he's the belgian who won the tour de france 5 times! whooa!)
so i hope you guys will all join me in welcoming the wafel truck. i hope it to be a great addition to weekend afternoons in park slope.. rock on!

Lately.. there has been other discussions here about shilling.. well.. bout to go to sleep .. but I would say this is the perfect example of SHILLING!
-
I think you're likely right, veets, although it's so obvious that I almost don't think the poster was trying to hide that s/he has a stake in the place.
That said, I'm pretty psyched for the waffles!
-
I feel a song coming on...
Here we come a-wafeling
among the leaves so brown
Slather them with toppings
and then just snarf them down...*
Seriously, an obvious shill. But a helpful one, at least -- I intend to check it out if I'm around that day.
*For our Belgian friends, this is based on the English Christmas carol "Here we come a-wassailing." Now, what smart entrepreneur will be the first to park a Wassail truck in the Slope to serve the Christmas shoppers? -
DAMN! I want waffles!!
But I'll be out of town this weekend
Yumm, I have no problem eating food out of a truck.
Please come back later this month! -
Subject: shilling?
i actually have no stake in the company - i've NEVER met the owner, but all i know is i like wafels. i'm a webdesigner who works from home (in park slope) and found out about these great wafels and a wafel truck in manhattan. i thought the people of brooklyn would like something like this - instead of the mister softie trucks.
i'm not sure why you people are so very sour. all i want to do is spread the word about some belgian wafels, and you guys are sorta coming off like it's the most evil thing to share a great find with other people... especially considering this is a BLOG where people are SUPPOSED TO POST about things going on in PARK SLOPE.
in any case, i hope your holidays are warmer than your tone. -
Whose tone needs adjusting now? A couple of people mentioned that your post sounded shill-y, but far more of the people who posted were excited about the waffles. Wafels. Whatever.
Don't go all "you people" on us when it was only two posters who weren't even THAT harsh. -
can't we all just stop fighting?? THERE'S WAFFLES HERE.
and sadly i won't be home this weekend = i'll buy someone a beer if they can get a boot put on the waffle truck's wheel til I get back.
Howdy, Stranger!
