Male vs Female

Why are the young women who work in this neighborhood so irritable and sour and yet the young men seem super pleasant and charming?

It makes me really sad.

  • Are you talking about any particular business establishment? Or are you just generalizing about an entire gender? :)

I guess I'm generalizing a bit because haven't been to every place in ParkSlope...but notably 200 Fifth, Something Different of Fifth, Associated, Rosewater, that Austrailian bar on 4th ave (forgot what it's called).....
  • Maybe you're so captivating and attractive that young men (of all sexual orientations) are overwhelmed by pleasurable emotions and giddy in your presence.

Women, on the other hand, are jealous and naturally see you as a threat.

Is that what you were looking for?

Nope, not what I was looking for....but you're probably right. 8)

But really....I'm just wondering if this is something anyone else has noticed?
  • Wow newbie, you just sign up and your first 2 threads are complaints about people in PS being rude to you, in both threads.
Maybe it's not us... perhaps it's... naw couldn't be.

I better grab a beer before I turn into restless native and rant about PS people and their sense of entitlement....
  • mujer! que respuesta tan severa!!

Maybe the young women you describe are using those contaminated tampons from China that got recalled today. What state and town do you live in? Fortunately here in Brooklyn, we did not receive the contaminated shipments from Asian, so our women remain just as nice and charming as the men.[/img]
  • wow mamacita, I'm honored that someone so venerable as yourself has taken the time to inspect my meager "newbie" offerings here.

I apologize if you found my opinions one dimensional and offensive.

    Re: Entitlement....
Yes, of course I am entitled.
    So are you.
We are ALL Entitled to question unprovoked discourteous behavior. Such behavior does nothing beneficial either for the bearer of such churlishness, or for the recipient. Indeed the immediate and lasting effects are generally destructive.

If my comments seemed little more than the whining of a privileged stereotype, it is because this medium is often a reduction of a whole person down to a few pithy one liners.

I hope you beer was totally refreshing and the beginning of a wonderful weekend.
  • raw: the establishments you frequent do not feature brusque young women. Duly noted.

    Please advise where you go?

Everywhere between 4th Avenue & 8th Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and 12th Street.
  • Raw: noted with thanks. you've been very helpful.
  • If you're talking about bartenders; I would agree. (But that's nyc also) I hate when there are two young, purty things slouched together behind the bar rolling their eyes; comparing tattoos. I know men love em, and men (here's the part I'll get nailed for  ) generally spend more money in bars. But having a prettier than thou bartender who avoids her female patrons SUCKS ASS. I'll avoid a bar if I see 2 females, but if theres one old salt in there, pull up a stool!
  • blame it on shakti.

Go to Smith's Tavern on 5th Avenue.

To solve your problem you'll have to determine what type of Bastet you are:
If you are an Egyptain you are a Solar Diety
If Greek you are A Luna Diety.

If your solar go out in the day,
If luna go out at night

Your probably going out at the wrong time and that's what's creating your problem :P
  • Come on, guys. Don't let the bastets get ya down.
  • Most of the women who come to this city, regardless of what career path they're usually following, all believe they're one step away from becoming famous anyway.

Their egos are typically through the roof (despite their sub-par looks and personality), and it shows I'm sure especially to their 'competition' aka other women.
  • I don't know about you guys, but I recently purchased a bad batch of "manpons" and have been noticably more irritable lately.
  • How does it feel being the Bastet at the family reunions :P
  • How does it feel being the Bastet at the family reunions
well with my dad being Ra and all...pretty good!
  • Well ,who Ra for you :P
  • Exactement!
  • I don't know exactly what you meant.
  • Subject: I used to think girls were rude

Then I realized that I was being rude by expecting them to be rude, which led them to be rude to me. Now that I treat them like I would like to be treated and I've found that the women around me are very pleasant. I think its called growing up. It'll happen for you. Hopefully.
  • An aside to those who have been on here a while: Did it cross your mind we could be encountering a Precious reincarnation?:wink:

    Don't mind my cynicism.
  • actually Caaahyoko...you aren't the only one who thinks that. Check out the "I hate Ms. Bastet" post in the "Time wasting B.S." forum for more on that line.

    Just FYI!
