What to give nursing staff?
Hi everyone - Were looking for ideas. My 91-year-old mother lives in assisted care and the staff are absolutely wonderful to her. Each year we try to get something for the nursing staff. We know there are about 6 or 7 nurses and aides on the morning and afternoon shift, and we know several of them who have been helping her over the years and really give her individual attention. There's also an overnight and weekend shift that we don't usually see.
Now we'd like to show our appreciate with a holiday gift for them. We've given chocolates and cookies in previous years, and had them delivered for different shifts, but we know they get lots of these goodies at this time of year and wondered if there was something that would be more appreciated. We'd especially love to hear ideas from anyone who works in a nursing team and could let us know what you'd really like to receive as a staff. Among the three of us, we can probably afford about $150-$175 for the total gift.
Thanks!

How about some upscale hand care products? Nurses have to wash their hands all the time, and their hands really get dry. They go though hand lotion like crazy, so getting a good brand they wouldn't normally spend the money for would be both thoughtful and useful. L'Occitane makes wonderful shea butter line, with hand cream, nail & cuticle cream, and a softening hand scrub, for instance -- you could put together your own collection for each nurse or get one of their own sets and control how much you spend per person that way. And you could write a note in the card about how their hands give so much care to their patients and deserve a little extra special care themselves.

Try Karen's Body Beautiful on Myrtle. Very nice soap, lotion products.
Handmade.
Support the neighborhood! -
Thanks for the suggestion! This is a nice idea. I can picture putting together little gift bags like this. Might even involve my mom in putting the bags together. I haven't seen Karen's body beautiful - will have to look for it.

Karen's Body Beautiful is on Myrtle between Clinton and Waverly. And this actually wouldn't be a bad idea. -
The hand sanitizers and hand lotions are a great idea .I usually wait till bath and body has a sale and load up. The employees really appreciate it.The cherry blossom scent in the blossom line is a definite fave. The fragrance is awesome. I like the pear scent from Karens Body Beautiful on Myrtle as well. Also , a nice candle is good and something else I have given is stationary and little pocket daytimers. But if you want to send something for all, not so individual and since everyone is health conscious these days, check out ediblearrangements.com and send a nice fruit arrangement. They really are stunning when they arrive and are a big hit.We ordered one for our bosses baby shower but you can get one more appropriate.
