9th Street and 7th Avenue — Brooklynian

9th Street and 7th Avenue

Was wondering if there were any members who live in this vicinity. I have been sightseeing there, and my mother grew up there. Was just wondering what it is like to live there, or what is was like to live there in the 1950's.

  • Welcome to Brooklynian, momthmp!

The Ask Brooklynian board is really meant more for questions about the site itself. I'm moving your post to the Park Slope board, where more people in the area you're asking about may see it and respond.

    Thank You!
  • I can tell you that I and a number of other youths ran that intersection during the '90s and were largely responsible for keeping it safe (from anyone besides us that is)

Living there now is about like living in the "New York" street scene at Universal Studios. The buildings look like New York buildings should, but aside from that, there's nothing.

Here is a nice old video of Park Slope from the '60s, I believe it's on 7th Ave.

Thank you so much! Did you happen to know any families that lived on 9th street, 400 block?

I know a few of them that have probably been there since day one. Not gonna drop any names on the board but you can message me if you want.

Since momthmp is new here, I'm just going to 'splain this for her: You can send another user a private message by looking at one of their posts and clicking the little button that says "PM" (at the bottom of any of that user's posts, between "profile" and "email"). That sends a message just to that user that nobody else on the site can read, and that user will get an email notification that he or she has received a message here so he or she will know to come check it.
