There's a studio on 3rd ave between 11th and 12th which advertises classes
(Sorry, don't know the name offhand).

There's also the Brooklyn Arts Exchange on 5th Ave http://www.bax.org/ but it seems to be geared more towards youth classes.

There is a small storefront on 4th Ave between Bergen and Dean that has classes. I always see group classes in session as I walk by. It sounds like what you are looking for. Good luck.

Oh, I just saw the awning on the dance school on 4th Avenue between Bergen and Dean. It's called Salsa Salsa Dance school.

Also check out the Salsa Salon on Smith Street, not too far from the Carroll stop on the F train. They are a barbershop by day and salsa school by night (and on the weekends). Omaira, the teacher, is great. I last took classes there a few months ago, but from what I recall it's about $60 per month for weekly 2-hour sessions.
