Any recommendations out there for a good, high-quality, shoe repair shop in South Slope? Quality is more important than cost in this situation. Thanks.

  • the guys on 9th between 5th and 6th avenues have done ok by me.

I think they closed. Wasn't someone complaining that they closed without notice and she had no idea how to get her shoes back? My apologies to the shoe place if I dreamed that or made it up . . . .
  • There's a place on Windsor St. btw. PPW and 10th Ave. (closer to PPW and right near the subway entrance). He's closed on Saturdays and all Jewish holidays.
  • the oldest shoe repair shop in the neighborhood is on
14 street by the corner of fifth ave
great job , great prices, been going there all my life

I looked in the window a couple of hours ago. The look open to me and the A sign was outside. Closed Sunday and Monday. 830-5 Tuesday to Saturday...I think.
  • CRAP. I was going to go there tomorrow but those hours mean I won't be able to pick up 'til god knows when.

Anywhere else around that does repairs in either direction down 5th?

YES - Angelo's on 14th and 5th. I second the recommendation. He's an old toothless Italian man - very genial, and is more reliably open than the place on 9th (which I've walked by more than once during their stated business hours and they've been randomly closed).
  • anyone have the exact address for Angelo's shoe repair?
I looked on this map (which is usually very accurate) and I don't see it.
  • that's because he's on 14th St., just around the corner from 5th (technically between 5th & 6th).
  • I found the shoe repair place, yet when I went by in the morning on Friday around 8:45, it was all closed up.

Does anyone know when the place is open? Mornings? Nights? weekends?
No number was posted on the awning, otherwise I would call.

    thanks!
