When do they announce Alt Side of the Street suspensions? — Brooklynian

When do they announce Alt Side of the Street suspensions?

With the weather coming in this afternoon, I REALLY don't want to have to move my car this evening since it is parked in a Friday spot.

I signed up for the Alt Side of the Street parking update through NYC.gov, but didn't know when they usually announced it. I just signed up this morning.

Thanks

  • Is there supposed to be an accumulation? I was under the impression that it was basically going to be a wet snow and nothing really on the ground.

Besides, if last year is any indication, they won't cancel it until really late tonight or tomorrow morning.
  • funny, i was thinking the same thing this morning...amazing how life revolves around parking.
  • Does anyone know why there was no alternate today? I just called 311 and so far, no alternate today, but alternate tomorrow.
  • They already cancelled today, I am guessing on the fear of snow, so hoping they cancel tomorrow.
  • Yeah, DOT sent out an email last night about cancelling today, in anticipation of Weather.
They don't always do that -- it's often down to the wire when snow is involved.
  • If you go to NYC.gov, alternate side parking is in effect for tomorrow. When did you receive this email?
  • Just noticed you said "last night" whoops!
  • Listen to 1010wins or 880 in the morning, they announce it on a regular basis when they do traffic, whether it is suspended or not.
  • Subject: alternate side parking

1010 wins is also very prompt in posting, check their website though, usualy has it before they announce it on air
