Holiday Tipping
Ok, I know there's a "tipping your super" thread in the PS forum, but it's that time again to figure out tip/no tip/how much for other people in our lives.
Mail carrier? This year I moved and even though the post office hasn't gotten it right, my carrier is doing a good job at intercepting and re-routing my mail (I didn't go far, so have the same carrier)
UPS? I've been getting regular shipments for work. Much more than usual
People who do my laundry? Every two weeks since forever.
Any advice?

i tip my mail man and garbage guys
. if they are the regular ones
. once you get to know who's who. they won't bother you much and get things right.
other wise their service can be screwy just the way of nyc. -
how much do you give the mail man?
-
i can't get over this town. you tip mail men??
do you tip subway conductors? -
I have never tipped the mailman before, but I'm considering it this year because I know that I wouldn't have received half of my mail after the move if not for him. That's a sad reflection on the USPS, but the truth
Then again, if I do it this year, I might feel obligated to do it every year. Decisions, decisions! -
mail carriers aren't allow more than $25 a year in tips from one person
. its some fed rule. -

yea im wonderin the same
do you tip subway conductors?
the idea to tip any of them never entered my mind, let alone my extremely empty wallet. -
I've got to say after all the crappy "your regular mail carrier can not work full time so your block is being staffed by temp workers" bullsht I got from the post office, no one is getting no tip from me.
On the other hand I would gladly tip my D line conductor(mornings around 8:30). The guy with the deep voice that always apologizes when we have a delay in between stops and even says have a nice day to everyone at every stop. That guy rocks! He's so considerate. I'd tip him any day! -
yea i think I'd throw a tip to my morning Q conductor. She does the same with apologizing whenever the train has to stop even for a split second. Also the crossing guard on Adelphi and Myrtle, she always shoots me a smile in the morning that warms my chilly toes.

we're supposed to tip supers?
I'm not giving anyone any gifts this year because I'm too broke!
The only polite train conductor I've run across in all my years here was the morning G train in Queens. I spent a few years trying to figure out what drugs he was on because he sounded WAY too happy to be working for the MTA, most of whom are either angry and spiteful, or zombies. -
