Cynthia ( the owner) cuts my hair. I think she is great
I have european type hair and I also get it colored at JT too
The colorist is very good as well
However, it is a little expensive but for me the convenience is worth the few extra dollars. Before JT opened I went to Brooklyn Heights (Femina on montaque) which was about the same price as JT but more conveinent then Manhattan or Park Slope -
My fiancée gets her hair cut there, and likes it a lot. I'm not sure if she gets it cut by the owner or not.

About how much does a regular cut cost?
Also, does anyone know if they are good at cutting european-style curly hair? It really is different than straight hair, and unfortunately not all stylists are aware of that (I've learned the hard way). -
hair cut is around $50-$55
Cynthia (the owner) has curly european hair
so assume she is probably really good with that type of hair -
my fiancée has curly european hair, so I think the salon knows how to do that and all kinds

Subject: Change in price
Suddenly the price is now $70/cut. Earlier post.... was that an introductory rate?
How does a girl find an affordable haircut in this city?! -
I have curly, difficult hair and they have given me great cuts. I first got my hair cut by a great woman - she did an awesome job, but she's out on maternity leave now, so the owner has cut my hair 2x - both times very good. I also have gotten my hair colored there. Sure they're a bit $$$, but I've had so many bad haircuts over the years that I don't mind paying a little extra if I can trust the place.
I used to go to Fez (5th ave in Park Slope). The owner is great, and is very talented, but I had an AWFUL experience with one of the other stylists so I won't go there again. I'd recommend the owner to anyone though. He's a lot cheaper than JT Salon (or at least he was last time I was there...almost a year ago now). -

Hi - I have had my hair cut there several times, always by Cynthia, and she's given me FANTASTIC haircuts. -
Cynthia's the OWNER? I never knew that!

It is pretty pricey there - though not compared to Manhattan, of course - but I think worth it. I have fine but thick straight hair and the haircuts Cynthia's given me are not only good at the time, but they've grown out really well. -
Okay, I've looked at six different web sites and they don't have this information:
What the hell are THE HOURS at Joseph Tyler? -
Hours: Tues./Wed. 11am-7pm; Thurs./Fri. 11am-8pm; Sat. 10am-5pm. Also, I just had my hair cut there by a woman named Mint, who did a fantastic job. They have raised their prices, though - my cut was over $70. Still, they give you a great cut that grows out really well (good for lazy people who don't like getting their hair cut very often!)
