recommendations: wedding photojournalist photog?

my fiance and i are getting married in manhattan on april 5, and we are totally overwhelmed by the plethora of photographers offering their services to new yorkers. we seek the wisdom of our neighbors in narrowing the field. so...

has anyone recently (i.e., in the past couple of years) had a very satisfying all-around experience with a wedding photographer (or bar/t mitzvah/other important event)? we're looking for a "photojournalist" (as opposed to someone who will do mainly posed pics). any and all recommendations will be welcomed with extreme gratefulness.

Hi there - first time poster, long time reader. I actually just registered b/c I wanted to reply to your post. My wife and I just got married this past May and had the best photogs ever. Get in touch with Shari Silk at SilkStudioWeddings.com. Tell them Jesse and Aya sent you. Her and her husband Josh work as a team and are from Carol Gardens. We didn't do many posed pictures at all, which is exactly as they prefer as well. In fact, we even had a few people mention that they didn't even notice the photographers at our wedding. They're a little pricey, but with pictures you really get what you pay for, and the next day when the wedding's over all you'll have left are pictures and memories, so spend the money there! If Shari doesn't work out, contact Milton Gil on 33rd-ish street (he's actually very close to Silk, who have an office across the street from RK Bridal on 39th or whatever). Milton's great too, we would have gone with him but he wasn't available on our wedding day. Good luck!

I also just got married and I used Angel Vasquez from Bay Ridge. He was very good, but had I known about Angelica Glass, I would have blown my entire budget on her. She's so amazing. She has a blog...just google Angelica Glass Blog and it will come up. oother amazing photographers are Blue Daisy and Something in Blue. I heard that Kenny Pang is also amazing. We had our wedding in September shot by VanSuydam Photography and are so so in love with our results. Jen and her fiance specialize in photojournalist style photography and it's flawless. They are located upstate but travel with a low fee.

I found this woman named Leah in 2002 and 6 of my girlfriends have used her since! She is a GODSEND!

[email protected] is her email and she has a gorgeous website. She is the sweetest woman with an incredible eye. Trust me, its hard to please me and my girls. Im in the fashion biz, so I def wouldn't recommend anyone CHEESY-

If you click on weddings and go to Susan + Alex, that was one of my best friend's weddings back in 2004.

She did an amazing job for them also.
She has also done my friend's baby christening, pregnancy pics, etc.
