Flat Tire
Last night at 9:45 pm I got a flat tire while moving my car for alternate side parking. I didn't know what to do. My fabulous b/f changed the tire but, of course, the spare was lacking air and really was only good enough to get my to 4th Avenue where I figured a gas station would be able to help out.
well, no gas stations could BUT I did find Luna's Tire Shop! They were so friendly there - they have 2 locations - one at 87 4th Ave that is open 24 HOURS 7 DAYS A WEEK!!!! We were at the other location 144 4th Avenue which is also open 7 days a week but not 24 hours.
Anyway, I was really pleased with the service. They really tried hard to find me a used tire since it is a lot cheaper and then, since they couldn't, they cut me a deal on the new one. Plus, they fixed my rim and put the tire on for me without adding on tons of extra fees for labor and stuff. They were really nice and happy to explain everything that happened - they even showed me why my tire was basically useless and they showed me a limo driver's tire - let me tell you that limo driver's tire made me want to think twice about getting in some of those cars! You could see the metal threads that make up the tire!!!!
Ok - well, I was pleased so I wanted to pass along my happy experince!

TIP- go to autozone and get an air compressor for $19 and keep it in the trunk. It wont prevent flats (obviously) but you can pump up your spare, or if one of your main tire(s) has a slow leak, you can keep it inflated until you find a repair shop. They're pretty handy, particularly in the winter when slow leaks get more annoying.

Now that is smart, Guvna. One of those things I can't believe I've never thought to do...Thanks for the idea!
