Grocery store for St. Marks bet. Classon and Franklin

I'm interested what Alma Realty is saying about the supermarket for the vacant space on St. Marks. This is the old emergency room for Interfaith and the owner of Alma, Steve Valiotis, told the community board that he was putting a supermarket there. Any news from you guys who live in the old Interfaith buildings about the supermarket?

  • i believe they were selling folks on the building with that one for a while, although i haven't heard anything about it lately.

keep in mind that alma sold me on the building using the comparatively achievable promise of a laundry room in the basement, and i'm still waiting.
(this was in august...august 2005. i have a LOT of dirty clothes saved up.)

i like my apartment, but alma is kinda shady. or at least terminally disorganized. i'm not sure i'd sign a business lease with them, fwiw.

(but if anyone out there is considering it, i would TOTALLY shop at a grocery in that location ALL THE TIME :D:D )
  • Speaking of the emergency room building on Classon, does Alma own that? It's rife with graffiti.

I am under the impression that NYC will clean it up as long as the owner submits a form? Does anyone know the exact process or where the form can be obtained?
  • I don't mean to be off-topic, but there is graffiti clean-up information here http://www.nycedc.com/Web/RealEstate/AssetManagement/QualityOfLifePrograms/GraffitiFreeProgram.htm .
