Computer supply store?

I need a SATA (Serial ATA) cable to hook up a new internal hard drive. Unfortunately neither RadioShack or Staples carries them. Any place I can get something like that in the neighborhood (or in, say, Cobble Hill)? I Googled around but couldn't find anything. Thx in advance.

  • if you go outside of the hood. you can find a lot of them. if you order them online should be less than 8 bucks including shipping. buying in person should cost you about a 1 buck.

  • Thx. I didn't need or want to head into the city for the next few days, so I was just hoping for something in the neighborhood. I would have ordered a SATA cable with the hard drive when I bought it online, but, silly me, I thought one would have been included.

Guess I'll check out Circuit City (ugh) and, if not, drag my ass into Manhattan. It's really surprising that there aren't any small computer supply stores anywhere near here. I guess online biz has driven them all away.
  • Try OfficeMax at the Atlantic Center, they have computer cables. I checked their website and didn't find any SATA cables but the store may have them. They did have a category for the cables though. Give them a call, maybe you won't have to go to Circuit City.

  • There's a small computer store on Ninth St. next to C-Town (name escapes me). I've never been inside but they might have one.
You might also try the Mac Support Store on 7th St between Third and Second Ave. htttp://www.macsupportstore.com
  • Uhm, am I the only geek that builds rigs in this joint? I have several [SATA cables], I'd be happy to spot you one...

cvarrick, thanks a bunch for the tip. I've walked by that place next to C-town probably hundreds of times and, somehow, never remembered it, but they had the cable. I have a feeling the guy just came up with the price off the top of his head, but it saved me $4 back-and-forth on the subway so I didn't care that he wanted $8 for it.

And WhyFi thanks for the offer of spotting me one. Very cool of you and appreciated.
