Mechanic in Center Slope? — Brooklynian

Mechanic in Center Slope?

Can anyone recommend an honest, capable mechanic in the Center Slope area? (Meaning, in this case, probably on 3rd or 4th Ave, but somewhere between, say, Carroll and 9thish.)

The place we've been using isn't open evenings or weekends, and it's just not working for us any more. Our car is a crap-tacular Chrysler minivan, if that affects your recommendations.

  • The best mechanic ever is Roberto Lorenzutti of Lorenzutti Motors on Douglas between 3rd and 4th Avenues. I don't know if he works on mini-vans though. He was a race car driver and really knows cars. He can just listen and know what's wrong. He's honest and a really great guy.
  • Brothers Andreas & Gus at New Millennium Motors, 3rd Ave at 7th St, have been good to me over the years. Been going to them since they were on the corner of 9th St. 718-788-2686.

  • I have used Charlie at Parkside (not Park West!) Auto at 584 Union St between 3rd and 4th Avenues for several cars over the years.

He is honest, capable, and a pleasure to deal with.

The only thing is, he also is not open weekends or evenings.
  • I usually go to R&S Strauss on 4th and 13th Street. It's a chain so I feel they do fairly reputable work.

Dont' go to Great Bear on 4th and President (?) - when I picked up my car one time the mechanic reeked of alcohol.
