Where's Armchair Warrior?

Subject: Where's Armchair Warrior?

What did I miss? I haven't seen a post (let alone his usual 100/day) for ages. Did his keyboard wear down to a nub? Computer explode after he reached his millionth post? It's just not the same around here....

I honestly miss him. Armchair, if you're out there, post a broken sentence so we know you're ok.
  • I miss the guy, too. He definitely brings an element of cheeriness to this board.
  • i miss him too. i miss his constant :P midsentence :P emoticons....

    :(
  • It has been awhile. Let's have a fake AW post contest. Here's my entry:

    lol :P lol :P

So, about 3 weeks ago, one or more of the mods decided to move all of Armchair's "my new house adventure" threads to The Lounge. I don't think I've seen any new posts from armchair from that day forward.
  • I've seen him comment on Brownstoner.com recently, so he is among the living, at least.

Good to know. Maybe he'll come back one day when we least expect it!

How funny is it that you actually edited this post?? Carefully crafting your typos??
  • ""So, about 3 weeks ago, one or more of the mods decided to move all of Armchair's "my new house adventure" threads to The Lounge""

Why? (And that was not meant to be critical, just curiosity)

Because they weren't neighborhood-specific and their sole purpose seemed to be chattiness, and that's what the Lounge board is meant for.

Given that he now seems to no longer post here after that action was taken, in hindsight, would that same decision still have been made?

    Yup. Ya got me.

I know AW sentiment runs about 50/50 but I for one miss the guy.

Chris, here's a shortcut to catch up on his more than 2000 posts.
You'll be in a better position to talk about what was appropriate if you dive in for yourself.
I still think we should have given him his own board for his landlording/renovation misadventures. . . the guy clearly had admirers as well as people he drove to distraction.
  • armchair will return!

    No doubt.
  • If no one else enters, I'm going to declare myself winner by default of the fake AW post contest at 12pm EST.
  • i miss armchair :(
  • He seemed to leave right about the time of the "Karma" rating thing.
I noticed he was getting hammered. It probably hurt his feelings a little....
    just a theory.

    i gotta agree with that.

when the karma debacle was going on. i would give him positive karma at every opportunity
but it did no good. i'd come back the next day and his karma would go right back to like negative 40 or something

    that ain't right...

Agreed. I'll have to track him down on Brownstoner and show him this thread.
  • one more shout out to armchair... please return!

Hey hey!! :D Welcome back, man. I really can't make sense of anything you just posted  , but sounds like you're busy (something I fortunately know little about these days). See you around.
  • I miss Armchair too, even though I did skip over hundreds of his posts (anything with 'HeHe' in it).

At the same time (and slightly off subject), is it me, or have a number of threads on fairly innocuous subjects been pulled into racial/call the police/us vs. them conflicts lately?

It is just your imagination, as this is in no way only a recent trend.
  • didnt really get a life, just more work and more money had to be spent on the building :(. i'm a slave to the building and tenants.

I would say that it's cyclical. Everyone once in a while, some new people show up who feel the need to expose the rest of us to The Truth, because the Internet is Serious Business. Other people tell them to chill out, and they reply in kind. Eventually they move on/give up/blend in/stop caring, and we start the cycle anew.

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you
