My Favorite Bars

Barrette
601 Vanderbilt - I went to this bar 3 times now, twice for my guy friends b-days and it's really fun. They have go-go dancers on Saturday nights (and maybe other nights?) and it's not like a bunch of skeevy dudes, it's a total party. The Burgers are really yummy and messy. They've got some pretty good beers on tap too.

Sepia
on Underhill at Lincoln has delicious hot apple cider toddys, yum!

Tavern on Dean
at Underhill - good beers, televisions, quiet, warm, great brunch, good wine, delicious burgers, yummy mashed potatoes, tasty salmon

Soda
629 Vanderbilt - is pretty obnoxious but it's nice in the summer outside in the back. The fries are good. They also have cheap hotdogs.

  • Those are all great choices. Soda can be a little overbearing at times, but the outdoor space is nice. Try the pierogies next time.
Other options include Ripple on Washington and St Johns, Beast on Vandy and St Marks, Noona Lounge on Vandy and Pacific, and for an unclear remaining amount of time, Mooney's on Flatbush between Park and Sterling.
Coming soon are a new bar on Vandy called Plan B and another bar in the old Housebroken space across from Beast (same ownership as Beast, and still under construction).

But don't even ask me about Home Heating Oil. It's very exclusive.
  • There used to be a bar on 10th and Ave B in East Village called Plan B. Always thought it was weird to have a bar named after the morning after pill, no? I wonder if it's a related owner.

It's a different owner. The original discussion of Plan B can be found here:
