Should I call the police or 311? They were shouting.

  • Devincf, you're always such a pleasure to have around.
  • There are more! Or the same ones walking by again and again, I can't figure it out.

I'm just informing people about this potential danger.
  • hahahahaha...
  • maybe the guy who got shot in the legs should read this too,
if only you had posted sooner,
he might have had a better night last night
  • You're right - I wish I could have warned him about black people!

BTW, I would like to attend a community council meeting or something to talk about the problem of teenage pregnancy - one these hoodied black youths was apparently the father of the others. He kept calling them son! He couldn't have been more than six when he fathered these other boys. Shameful.
  • this might be what you are looking for:

    Community Board 8
    YOUTH & FAMILY SERVICES COMMITTEE
    Chairperson: Akosua Albritton
Meeting Day: 1st Wednesday of the Month
    Time: 6:30 p.m.
Place: Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation
520 Prospect Place (Entrance on Classon Avenue)
  • I've heard that a slingshot loaded with frozen bl00berries is just the thing for dealing with this situation (hell, any situation).

If that fails, run out in front of them and fart loudly. You'll get mad props.

    EDIT: and LOCK YOU DOORS!!
  • I'll bet these youths listen to hippity hop music as well. I'll be sure to bring this up at the meeting, neene! Let's spread the word about black youths!
  • Where is CrazyLane? I wanna live there!

Its known as crazy lane on these boards but in reality it is St. Johns btw. Underhill and Washington...
  • It's the block that most terrifies the suburban white people!
  • I've never really gotten the Crazy Lane thing. I walk down that block fairly often, mostly at night, and though it tends to be a bit livelier than other blocks nearby, I have never witnessed anything "crazy" (let alone remotely terrifying).
  • This helps...clever...
  • This is a great way to get along with your neighbors considering that they MAY have been there more time than the majority of this board. Calling it "crazy lane" is some dissrespectful sh*t to those that have made this place their home. Respect where you are people...

    That might help you.
  • prospect heights is so, like, sketch.

Doooood! ProHo like rocks man! We are like taking over.
  • I just saw two italian men move into a brownstone on St. Mark's Ave. Considering that it was just Columbus Day (brings back scary memories to some of my ancestors), would 311 or 911 be more appropriate?

Nevertheless, in respect to the original question.. I think black men wearing sweatshirts is definitely illegal. You should call the police immediately.
  • Subject: Are you serious?

So whats the warning? I didn't know I was a threat. You do realize that not all of us are criminals right? (you probably don't). Maybe I should be scared of those drunk White guys walking down my block of Park Place at 3 am, just letting everyone know. And BTW, "son" is a term of endearment among black youth. It is used in the same fashion that some of you would use "dude". You really need to make some Black friends. Or at least try.
  • How about you teach me about Black people and I'll teach you about the elements of sarcasm.
  • As you wish, but next time try to be sarcastic. And not simply offensive. Just a thought.
  • I'll tell you who I'm afraid of - all those Watchtower misssionaries, walking down my block on Saturday and Sunday mornings with big smiles on their faces, ringing our doorbells at 10:30 am. They were out in force on St. John's this weekend. I had to cross the street to make sure I didn't get a paper cut from one of their leaflets. They terrify me.
  • get on your level?

    no thanks!
  • obviously devin was making fun of white folks who aren't as cultured (cough) as we white folks are. and it was funny.

    but who are we, really?

part of me is from sweden. another from scotland. am i white? not by my standards. or, it depends on the season.

are you sure son is always a term of endearment? dude isn't always. like i, as a white man, could say, "hey dude, get out of my fckn garden."

could you, as a black man, say, "hey son, get out of my fckn garden"? i think you could. as a matter of fact i think i, as i white man, could say it too!

as for your comment that he should get some "Black friends. or at least try," well, i don't think i need to mention how childish that sounds.

    do i?
  • I didnt find a thing funny about that. Whats so childish about it? Is it impossible to believe that I'm tired of White folks making stereotypical jokes involving Blacks. I have heard, read and seen enough in my life. I dont care what you say or do inside your circle. But when I come online to read the message board for my neighborhood, I dont want see that kind of crap. And when I see it I'm going to speak up. Regardless of who he was directly addressing, I found the content offensive.
  • Holy not getting it, son.
  • Let me spell it out for you here. I'm using irony and sarcasm to point out to the people on this board how ridiculous their constant fearmongering/311 calls/subtle racism is. If you find this offensive, you need new standards of offense.

    do i?
You're white man! Swedish and Scottish make you glow in the dark!

What would be funny is for you to walk on St. Johns and tell everyone that you aren't white. That will get the neighborhood rolling.
  • lol @ original post..too funny

Depends on the season?? What does that mean? My family is from the same parts of Northern Europe--and unless you're using self-tanner, I don't think your sunburnt red skin is fooling anyone. I accept and embrace (at least when not looking all red and splotchy) my glow-in-the-darkness.
