Brooklyn 9th Ward (1872) Map - Western Crown Heights / Prospect Heights — Brooklynian

Brooklyn 9th Ward (1872) Map - Western Crown Heights / Prospect Heights

Thought this was an interesting map plate of Brooklyn's 9th Ward from 1872.  It's interesting how this area was once designated as a unified district (then not) and now becoming uniquely identifiable as distinct again.

    Welcome Sillybilly.

I would argue that we are actually getting a new border at Vanderbilt.

Since the arena opened, Prospect Heights west of Vanderbilt is now covered by the police precinct that covers Park Slope, the 78th. There is also talk that this same area may be given (foisted upon?) to Community Board 2.

As a result, I foresee Prospects Heights disappearing from regular use, and Crown Heights expanding to Vanderbilt.

We will know if I am right in 30 years.
