Lot on the southeast corner of Franklin and Bergen
Does anyone know anything about this place? There are a number of cars and trucks parked there, and sometimes it looks like a junkyard, and other times it seems there are people hanging out/living there. In the winter time they never (really never) shovel. We've 311'ed their asses a few times, but it doesn't seem like it has done anything.

It seems to be primarily known as 948 Bergen, with an alternate of 635 Franklin AvenueIn 1997, some kind of structure existed on the site. It was demolished. Then in 1998, someone paved the lot, put up a shed and used it to sell used cars. The DOB wasn't happy about that, and issued a stop work order:...which basically means that this site can't be used for commercial uses (i.e. a commercial parking lot) until that is resolved.A cursory check of the address did not find it listed for sale with any real estate firms. But don't worry, whoever owns this lot has doubtlessly been approached by several developers and it may have been sold several times since 1998.

According to ACRIS there is a ~$400k tax lien on this property (see page 7 of this document), which was placed there over a decade ago. According to city records the owner used to own at least 4 other properties in the area, at least one of which was taken back by NYC via their third party transfer program. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing ended up happening with this property eventually.

Yeah, I saw a couple gringos with Blackberry belt clips hanging around there several months ago and assumed it was being sold. Hopefully the winter sidewalk maintenance will improve while the plans are in limbo.

The lot is 2809 SQ Ft and they get an as of right FAR of 4.0, or up to 4.6 if they include some affordable housing.
