Silver Alert for the disapperance of an elderly Asian man (Franklin & St. Johns)

Silver Alert issued 5/27/14 at 4:25 AM. NYPD has issued a Silver Alert
for the disappearance of Luocan Hu, male, Asian, 68 years of age, from
Franklin Avenue and St. John's Place in Brooklyn. Mr. Hu has only lived
in the country for a month and does not speak English. Mr. Hu is
described as 5'2" tall, 105 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He
last seen on 5/26 at 11:15 AM at his residence wearing a black jacket
and black pants. A photo is attached. If you see Mr. Hu, please call
9-1-1.

  • Thank you for posting this....its very sad and likely very scary for this older, foreign man. Is there any way to know if/when a missing person has been found?
  • What language Does he speak?
  • Based on his name, my guess might be Mandarin.
  • To my knowledge, there isn't a way to know if they've been found. I get the silver alerts through the Notify NYC program and have never seen a "found" alert, though I have seen cancellations of an amber alert.

    I'm sure it must be terrifying for both him and his family. I've been on the other side of that -- a decade ago my grandfather had a stroke while out shopping and was taken to a hospital but the hospital didn't notify us until the next morning. So I'm sure his loved ones would appreciate us keeping an eye out.
