NYM Hospital not responding to billing complaint

Had some routine blood work done at NY Methodist Faculty Practice and received a $1,700 bill. Turns out they didn't tell me (as they are supposed to) that my plan didn't have a contract with their lab or that I had an option to use a lab of my choice.

1. Always check if the services and doctors you're using are part of your insurance plan.

Now, no one at NYM will talk to me about this situation. In fact they won't even talk to the NY Attorney Generals office which is making inquiries about this. Obviously management has put out a gag order on the topic of billing.

2. Any suggestions?
