Black Male Teens ALL stopped by NYPD at F train stop? — Brooklynian

Black Male Teens ALL stopped by NYPD at F train stop?

Comments

  • I was waiting at that station last Thursday around 3:15, and there were at least six police officers in the station, and some of them were talking to the kids but from what I saw, they were talking to both girls and boys. I'm certainly not in favor of racial profiling but I would love to see more police on the platforms and on the trains between 3:00 and 4:00 when all the kids are commuting. A train car full of teenagers who have just gotten out of school is not a nice place to be, with the kids screaming, throwing stuff, vandalizing the train, pushing each other, and generally being really disruptive and loud.
  • you could look at the racial profiling as statistic profiling instead.
  • has there really been an increase in muggings at the 7th ave stop? I see cops there from time to time (this morning, in fact). It is nice to see them there but I always wonder why. It seems like a nice stop to me! Man, I'm way out of the loop!
  • Subject: Muggings?

I saw one (white) guy @ 4Ave stop who got a ticket for spitting. Saw one (white) guy @ 7 Ave stop this morning around 945 who got a ticket (dunno why, had to catch train). Nearly always see a cop at 7 Ave stop in the pm around 6 - quite happy to see them - they even say hello. But no trace of muggings.
  • I have been seeing more police in MANY subway stations over the past few weeks - including baggage check stations and just random extra presence.

I recall reading about a rash of muggings there over the summer. I thought it was mentioned on this board but maybe it was Park Slope Parents or something.

it was mention here too and alot of blogs and news papers.
  • Subject: 7th ave subway muggings

My friend saw someone getting mugged in the station. There were no cops to be found, until someone called 911, then there were 5 or more on the scene. Too late though.
  • I'm actually glad to see the police around in the subway stations, even if there haven't been any recent muggings. Any group of teens, male or female, black or white, can be boisterous and intimidating when they're liberated from a day at school. Even if they're not actually doing anything wrong, it's nice to have some authority there to discourage the possibility.
  • have the majority of the muggings happened around the time school is let out?
