This is a story I've been following for a while.

Yes, it's just the tale of one bar owner who wanted to open in PH, but was run out by the community board. But it's indicative of a larger phenomenon.

CB8 is anti-nightlife. And stories like these scare away other potential bar owners from even trying. If bars come and attract spendy people then more great stuff follows. If we hit pause now, then we just got what we got

Washington ave is doing great. For Prospect Heights.

Call me a pessimist but I definitely see Washington ave as half empty. That's not to disregard the great things that have sprouted up, but to me, it's a long stretched speckled with jewels. The operative word being speckled. And I'm hungry for more.

I'm hungry for not just bars but lobster roll joints, cheese and butcher shops, maybe even a DIY indy movie theatre. But first things first. First we need sneakers on the ground.

Sneaker place about to open on Classon and Lincoln.

It seems you'll like Global Square when it opens in Dec 2014. It will have a theater for Indy films.
