The B48 — Brooklynian

The B48

Ok, I work in Queens and have been taking the 2/3 to the 7 for a few months now. I was wondering if anyone rides the B48 in the morning and if so, how long it takes when it leaves Lefferts Grdns to reach Classon and Lincoln. I've been sceptical of the schedule because I can't seem to put my finger on a realistic time frame. 5 min? 6 min? 3 min? I wanna catch the G to get to Queens and see how long it takes. So, if the bus leaves its starting point at 7:19, what time does, or do you think, it'd reach the abovementioned stop?

Thnx

other people will help with your particular request, but I have a quick observation re: buses in bklyn:

I used to live uptown in manhattan and buses at rush hour on weekdays were a horrid nightmare. today I took the B45 from downtown bklyn to st.johns and washington at 9 a.m. and was totally shocked at how quickly the bus moved through traffic. it's amazing. brooklyn bus drivers rule.
  • the B48 can easily get stuck going over the pulaski bridge between greenpoint and LIC. luckily, since it's the bus, you can call work & let them know. it will be totally fine for many days and then randomly it will take 20-30 minutes to go over that bridge. i used to have to take the G to the 7 to the N which was always faster than the bus to the N that early in the morning because of traffic.
  • Can anybody help me with this scheduling shit?

I haven't taken it early in the morning, but I think that distance (Lefferts Grdns to Classon/Lincoln) is pretty quick, maybe 5 minutes. The bus route begins down around the Prospect Park subway station on Flatbush, which isn't all that far away.

The slow part will be getting from your stop to the G train. At least in afternoon, that bus stops almost every block, with lots of people getting on and off. Some only ride for one stop! It is SLOW. But better than the 2/3 to the 7 for sure.
  • a former roommate of mine used to go to queens college while living here in PH. he swore that the fastest route - albeit crazy sounding - was to take the 2/3 to atlantic, get out and walk to the G at/down dekalb(?), then take the G to the 7.
  • I'm an instructor at Queens College and I take the Q or B and transfer to the F at 34th, 42nd, or 47th. I go at slightly off peak hours, but it generally only takes between an hour and an hour and a half (if you just missed the train, delays in Queens) to get from the 7th Ave. Q to the Union Turnpike stop -- now catching the 74 bus from Union Turnpike to campus is another story...
  • Gracias.

I just need to get to LIC. I work at LaGuardia and don't need to get all the way out to Queens College. That's a real hike.
  • I just wanted to say that I took the B-48 for the first time at 2:00 AM last night from Greenpoint to Sterling & Franklin Ave. Only 25 minutes! So much nicer than waiting for a G train or taking the L into the city and waiting God knows how long for a 2/3 or Q train.

As for figuring out approximate times from point A to B, can't you just download the PDF version of bus schedules, which list the time-table using 6 or so key stops?
