Info for a new resident
Hey all,
I just signed a lease for an apartment at Lincoln and Underhill and I'm looking for some standard new area advice:
What's the best pizza/chinese delivery place?
What's the best place for cheap food?
Where is the closest/most easily accessible place to see a movie?
Who wears short shorts?
What's the best of the many many coffee shops?

Oh, man.
Browse around on here for a while and you'll find the answers to many of your questions!
Maybe we should have an info list like the car service one for "frequently asked questions" such as laundry/food/grocery/etc. -
Or how about a "Best of ProHo"? People could nominate and then vote on their favorite spots.

If someone was really really dedicated and had way too much time on their hands, they could make something like the info sheet someone made up from the message boards for the place we went on our honeymoon...it lists each hotel, restaurant, store, etc etc that has ever been talked about on the board and lists a few examples of things people have said about it. really bad things are in bright red, and really good things in green. it was incredibly helpful, but must have taken ages (and is regularly updated...i think the guy who does it must be retired.)

11238, this is good, thanks for the reminder. However, I was thinking of something a bit more organized.
Something along the lines of what the Voice or Time Out, etc. publish each year.
It would start with series of nominations in a number of categories and then everyone would vote. At the end of the voting time there would be a tally of which spots have the most supporters and an official DH Best of ProHo could be published.
While that last thread is great it takes time to go through and each entry is just one person's opinion and not a community consensus.
Thanks for posting it though, it is a good starting point for those new to the area. -
I still think that rather than just a numeric rating, it's helpful to have a couple of representative comments from the board about places. When you know WHY a place is loved or hated, it informs your own decisions. Not everyone's tastes are the same, so...for example, if people rate a pizza place as "poor" because it has spongy crust...well, what if you LIKE spongy crust?

There's always the ProHo Guide.
