empty storefronts on 7th
What is up with all the empty storefronts on the northern part of 7th Ave?
It seems like the Zuzu's/Olive Vine/Korean Deli fire had something fishy to it, so maybe something is pending re: insurance? But that hasn't changed for a long time.
Also, the eyglasses place, next to Joe's Pizza (bet. Garf. and Carr.) and the smaller deli at Garfield -- all of them vacant for a long time, it seems. Is the asking rent just too high?
Looking forward to getting some new banks and real estate offices soon,
Steve

I'm trying to save up 14K a month for of those. I'm thinking maybe a children's clothing store? Or maybe a thai restaurant.

The site of Zuzu's, the owner is trying to sell it to a developer in order to put up a new apartment building.

As to the other vacancies, most of those stores are vacant while the owner negotiates with the AAA tenants that have been trying to get into 7th avenue for years.
Where Aerosoles is, that store was vacant for two years, and I found out from the owner's son, that it took over a year to finalize the deal.
These big corporations take forever. That's why a store is vacant for a long time. It does not mean that the rents are too high or the market has softened. -
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I MUST HAVE GORILLA COFFEE ON SEVENTH AVENUE

Interesting! I had not heard this.As to the other vacancies, most of those stores are vacant while the owner negotiates with the AAA tenants that have been trying to get into 7th avenue for years.
Super! Big corporations bring so much character to a shopping street. How much longer before they put a roof on 7th Ave. and make it a bona fide shopping mall?

I hate to say it but I would welcome a gap on 7th Avenue. There are so few places to buy things other than food and real estate. Other than that 7th is largely salons and the occasional yoga place.

I don't even hate to say it. I know it's hip to bash the joint, but for plain stuff that lasts awhile it does just fine. I'm not particularly fashion conscious, though - I pretty much buy stuff and wear it to work until it isn't suitable, then I wear it until it falls apart.
