  • Am I the only one who looked twice when they saw that on an awning?

    Food is alright, nothing special.
  • Dominican or Puerto Rican - they've got mofongo on the menu. let me know if they're any good, tho - I haven't tried them.
  • they're good for the price - not intrinsically good. fried food galore - the fried plaintains aren't bad but needed more salt.
  • Are we talking about the big green awning on Fifth Ave?
Not bad Cuban sandwiches, sometimes pastelles (the thing that looks like tamales in corn husk, hope I'm getting the name right), perfectly good cafe con leche

I bet they have some good specials and soupy rice dishes . . .
  • I thought they were OK but not great. The owner of Los Viejos Amigos (I think he was the owner - Freddy) said he used to be a chef there but left.
  • I will be happy when I can find a real pan con bistec in this town. specifically with the shoestring potatoes and sauteed onions. mmmmm.
  • i believe it's spelled "yeyo".
  • I'm pretty sure it's yayo. There's another one on 9th st at 5th.

"Yeyo" - term for cocaine, popularized in Scarface.

The joke wasn't funny, but your completely honest and trusting reply was (not at all a bad reflection on you, BTW, quite the opposite).

Now I'm in the mood for food...

Nope. Whenever I see it, "Rush, rush for the yayo!" goes through my head.

He's gonna be pissed when he finds out...
  • those "free yayo" shirts created many an awkward exchange between g-unit faithful and partygoers at happy ending.
  • Gee thanks. Now ya'll got that catchy old E-40 song stuck in my head:

I hope I don't go back to slangin' yayo/ slangin' yayo/ to get my mayo.
  • Naaah, don't get fukken hyphy on me !!!!
