Git-It-N-Git is a new fish and chips joint opening up at 1299 Bergen Street

In response to the discussion post "Anyone know what's going in at Bergen and Kingston?" - it's a new eatery that will be opening in a few weeks.
Visit our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter.

Why is it called Git-It-N-Git? The name refers to our lack of seating - basically, you have to git-it-n-git because there's no place to sit.

What is Git-It-N-Git? Well, it's more than a fish and chip joint - it is a black-owned business
serving up savory seafood, using a quick and efficient operating style
while maximizing a small space.

But wait, we're not really new - my father, a New York City firefighter, originally opened Git-It-N-Git
in 1970 on Ralph Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The
menu was similar to today's with fish and chips, fish sandwiches, knish,
but also included frog legs. I eventually took over the operation but
was forced to close in the mid-1980s. I reopened the restaurant in 1994
with two friends, a block away from the original location. We enjoyed 17
years at that location, but unfortunately we lost our lease in 2011.
Now, my partners and I are opening up in Crown Heights.

We feel very fortunate to be opening up in this wonderful neighborhood and look forward to growing with the community.

Sincerely,

Stanley Boyd
