Memberships to Crown Heights Attractions
So I was wondering if anyone has an info on memberships to local attractions. I know each attractions individually has a membership program, but for the most part, it doesn't include any other local attractions, just similar attractions throughout the city/country (e.g., zoos, children's museums. etc.). Anyone know of any memberships that can help with multiple local attractions? Likely wishful thinking, but a a program for locals where we can visit local museums, gardens, zoos under one cover would be great.

check each place individually to discern when they may have special pricing. Our neighbor is hot, but not that hot that City Pass or something like that would have a pass.

You could wait till January and get the new Municipal ID and get 1 year memberships to all sorts of places including the zoo and the Children's museum.
-
What does it cost to get the ID? I tried to look in the other thread but didn't see anything.
If all those memberships come with the ID, I'll b the first in line. -
Getting the ID is free during 2015. Yup, all those memberships come with the ID.

Awesome!

Thanks @tateinbk.It appears that in our area, it will cover Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn Children's Museum, and Brooklyn Museum. Sadly, Prospect Park Zoo is not included.

Fine print:"This free membership package will not be available to existing members of a participating institution or individuals whose membership has lapsed since January 1, 2012. However, existing or recently lapsed members of a given institution can use their Municipal ID to obtain free membership at all other participating institutions."

Seriously?! That is not cool, and what is the point? And forever? This leads me to believe that this is a promotional thing, and the institution just doesn't want people taking advantage of it if it will cost them an existing membership in 2015. NYC likely sold it to the institutions as a way to get people hooked and future revenue.Think of it... Brooklyn Children's Museum is almost 100% locals. If everyone got this, and why shouldn't they, it would cost them pretty much 100% of their admission revenue.

The point may be that institutions don't lose members as a result of offering this discount.
They instead, GAIN the attendance of people who likely would not otherwise be in attendance. -
We seem to be duplicated the ID thread here. To avoid confusion please direct comments on the municipal ID program here: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/44404/nyc-begins-a-municipal-id-program

But since 2012, and will this be the case in 2020 as well; the same 2012 membership will not allow me to benefit? It would be easier to digest if it was a rolling 12 month period. But again, it seems likely that it is not a permanent benefit. Can CB 8 and 9 create a community discount/membership program for local cultural institutions? Any CB 8 or 9 people listening out there? This would be a great way for the CB's to develop some [much needed] goodwill with their constituents.

My BBG membership expires at the end of June. The Bronx Zoo is on this list but not the Prospect Park Zoo?
