Leather Jacket Repair? — Brooklynian

Leather Jacket Repair?

Hi Everyone -- My husband's leather jacket has seen better days. It has some rips and needs to be restored. Do you have any suggestions for local (or at least Brooklyn) stores who might be able to help me out? Thanks!

  • I really like Bridge Cleaners.  You should see if they can help.  If not sometimes a shoemaker can help with leather stitching, etc.  Good luck.
  • I recently had some work done on some leather items at the cleaners on Franklin ave. It is called Goody, 812 Franklin ave.
  • I haven't had rips repaired, but David's Shoe Repair (268 14th St in Park Slope - 347-567-6600)  has restored a couple of leather jackets for me and I did have them replace the lining of one sleeve. They did a fine job and were really nice.
Actually, I have to go over there to have a very small tear on a sleeve repaired. so, I can report again after they've done that for me, which I'm sure they can.
  • I can't make a recommendation, but I can tell you to avoid Shoe Architects on Flatbush for anything more than a simple resole job.  They did such a sloppy job with re-attaching the lining on a pair of work boots I had that it came loose the same day I picked it up.
