Seeking Macchiato on Kingston Near Pacific/Dean/Bergen in so called "central" Crown Heights North
We recently moved over to Brooklyn/Kingston and cannot get a decent coffee, Dough donut or evenly backed cookies in the immediate area. A sit down place with wifi etc. Is this too much to ask for? I'm drinking alot of coffee at home -- good for the wallet, and for the figure, but would love a place to hang out and meet my neighbors.... Also, as I am dreaming, a bar where I could get a nice Rioja from time to time would also be great....

Brooklyn Ave is totally residential (at least between Eastern Parkway and Atlantic Ave). Kingston has nothing in terms of a cafe. Nostrand Ave is your best bet for good cafes and treats: Tinto (my personal favorite), Lula Bagel, Meme's, and Richol's are great options. Soon we will have even more options on Nostrand with the soon-to-come new cafe/wine bar by the owner of Little Zelda and a brasserie (which I imagine will have morning coffee/pastry) from the owner of Breuekelen Coffee and a Latin American cafe with great coffee (Colina Cuervo).

@nothinlikeabklyngirl likes to type about that section of Kingston Avenue:http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/38679/new-businesses-on-kingston/p1If something is coming, she probably knows about it.

It's true that Kingston has nothing in terms of a cafe, between Eastern Parkway and Atlantic. And no plans for any that I know of. The closest on the north side is Capitoline Grounds on Fulton right at Kingston: http://www.capitolinegrounds.com/#about. They have WiFi, a couple of stools, and a backyard. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that, but their ice cream is yummy and they have pastries, crepes, and a bunch of other goodies. Or Chocolatte on the south side of Eastern Parkway: http://chocolatte.us/Nostrand has plenty of options, as mentioned above ... plus Connecticut Muffin.

Doesn't Basil sell coffee?

Doesn't Basil sell coffee?
Not sure they have wifi though. -
Two buildings with tons of commercial space are being renovated on the corners of Bergen Street and Kingston. Lots of opportunity.
-
It would be nice if one of those buildings had a cafe/lounge/wine bar.
-
The demand for these goods and services has long been present.
Renovated storefronts will go a long way toward getting the businesses to take the leap. -
Let's hope someone takes advantage of the opps of the storefronts on Kingston between Pacific and Bergen etc....and what's with that liquor store on Kingston and Pacific with the bullet proof glass? So 1970s. Looking for a real wine store please....Crianza anyone?
Howdy, Stranger!
