The Winter 2015 Brooklynian gathering: Sunday Feb 8th — Brooklynian

The Winter 2015 Brooklynian gathering: Sunday Feb 8th

Regular readers may be aware that some Brooklynian readers get together approximately once a season. As in prior years, this year's winter gathering will involve ice skating.

The plan is as follows:

Interested persons will gather at the Prospect Park Lakeside rink at 3 PM on Sunday, Feb 8th. Admission plus the cost of skates runs about $20 for an adult. Children cost less.

At approximately 5 PM, skating will end and those interested are welcome to accompany Ms Whynot and I to our apartment, where approximately 7 kinds of chili and hot chocolate will be waiting to be consumed.

Last year, approximately 25 people participated. The feat was accomplished by using 7 Croc Pots, borrowed in advance.

Answers to questions asked in prior years:

-Children are welcome.

-Yes, you can come to the ice skating part and not the chili part. The Whynots won't be offended.

-Yes, you can come to the chili part without going to the ice skating part. However, the chili tastes much better after ice skating.

-About half of the batches of chili will be vegetarian.

-The household dog, Dude, is friendly.

-You don't have to rent skates from Lakeside if you already own them

-Yes, Lakeside sells beer.

-None of us are figure skaters, you will be in good company.

Comments

  • I am going to try and make it to the house portion of this gathering so I can finally meet everyone - and sample all the chili! Please let me know if you need a crockpot to add to the mix - I have one you can borrow.

I believe we have enough crockpots. See your PM for my address. The chili part of the adventure will start after 5:30, because it will take us a while to walk from the rink home.
  • We will be there for chili!
  • Excellent. I have begun buying ingredients from Compare.
  • You guys rock!

    It is true, we do.

At this time the predicted attendees are as follows:
10 past and present readers of Brooklynian
5 people we know because they also have a dog.
5 people who live in the same building we do.
    5 people from other sources

    10+5+5+5=25

...about 10 of which will go ice skating, while all 25 will eat chili.

Time will tell if these estimates are accurate.
