Don't worry, the "new shops, cafes, etc" totally justify the price!

Nothing new is opening in the area, it's dominated by homeless shelters and housing projects and they're not going anywhere anytime soon. I thought it funny how the ad specifically pointed out how the kitchen has a window. WHOOPEE !!!

The real estate market is quite crazy, and this is likely one of the cheapest listings that Corcoran has on its site.
I can see this apartment being used by someone who needs somewhere to live while they are getting their recently purchased, $1.5M home renovated.
...or two medical students who work at Kings County.

Maybe so but I have a client who just rented a 2BR in his building on Pacific and Kingston for $1900. Maybe not as nice as this but certainly in a better spot.
-
I agree, that is a nicer spot.
....while the neighborhood has improved, I still believe that when Eastern Parkway turns, so does the neighborhood. -
two medical students working at kings county would be better off renting off the 2/5 branch. apartments of similar size go for as much or less if you're east of nostrand ave and south of empire

Sometimes the young are less than savvy. Sometimes they believe that if an apartment is listed by Corcoran, it must have a good landlord
...or something.
I can't say I ever believed such things. -
Really hard to believe the asking on this apartment, particularly since I know the area fairly well. I don't live that far away and I grew up about a block away, on EP between Ralph and Howard. The apartment itself is not bad, but the neighborhood is certainly not the best. There is decent bus service (the 15 goes to Brookldale Hospital and the 14 takes you to Utica). Eventually, I guess the area will improve and there will be more stores and restaurants, but not before Utica gets a lot better. Still, I guess it is relatively cheap as things go these days and hipsters have moved into apartments I would not have thought possible just a short time ago.

I used to be surprised when I saw Corcoran take listings east of Kingston Ave.
I guess I'll have to wrap my head around them now serving east of Utica.
...I'll need some time.
BTW, one can also rent the whole house: http://marketplace.brownstoner.com/listing/CORCORAN-3402517/579-ralph-avenue-crown-heights-brooklyn-ny-11233/
