What's up with the stones? — Brooklynian

What's up with the stones?

Speaking of that block of Flatbush, does anybody know what's coming in next to Kombit, to the right? The windows are papered over and the front is being refinished.

  • spa next to kombit.jpgEmilyM had also asked about the space next to Kombit, "undergoing a high-concept looking reno. Full length windows, one of which had a display of river stones in it {hard to explain}. Anyone know what that is?"

Turns out this Flatbush Ave. storefront is going to become a "full body" spa, according to one of the women who owns Kombit.

Looking through some old photos, I had completely forgotten that this used to be that computer store with the blue awning that was loaded with mounds of outdated junk and never seemed to have what I was looking for (cable? no. video card? no. storage media? no.)

  • hey, if i can tell what i'm looking at from this picture, i just happened to notice that d'mai on fifth ave in park slope has the same display of river stones in their window. leads me to believe that this new spa is related to d'mai.
  • Subject: yup

    cyn,

was just about to say the same. some overpriced indonesian facials all around!
  • I don't this place is related the spa on 5th Ave. The guy who is renovating this place owns the hair salon at Flatbush Ave and St Marks Ave. I believe it is call G.
  • It's a shame that it looks like they either painted over or destroyed the old glass sign that was there that read "PRIME MEATS". I would think that sign must have been very old.

Though it might have come off as sort of strange in conjunction with a spa...
  • yeah, as a plce where you could go to get some "satisfaction."
  • The guys rennovating the shop say it's going to be an Aveda spa.
  • Oh please be an Aveda spa... :)
  • It would be so great to have an Aveda spa in the neighborhood -- massages and facials -- sounds great!
  • By the way, it's not the Prime Meats storefront... that is still empty with "for rent" signs in the window.

If it's not related to D'Mai, that's pretty crazy that they'd rip off the stones-in-the-window decorating idea!
