Yes, I gloss over that above as "passover scheduling issues".
Being that there is no end to this conflict re: whether to submit a request in sight, I think it is time for an adult to step in.
Eric Adams or Laurie Cumbo should make a request to DCP, or inform the populous that they will not object to request for variances.
...either of which would effectively stop this pointless show.
-
Some of the anger is directed toward Tim Thomas, who is seen as main proponent of the request.
His opponents want him removed, or at least not reappointed to the board.Tim spoke his peace about last night's meeting on his blog this morning. Regarding his previous comment that could be considered to be questionable: "Writing "perhaps Alicia will break her jaw gardening," thereby rendering her unable to hurl insults and disrupt the meetings. Actually, I could see how that one could be interpreted as wishing harm on her. I don't. She's done irreparable harm to herself and needs no help from me. Debatable and deleted."
-
I helped Tim create his most recent list of new developments, which he seems to believe will help convince his opponents that the situation is dire and will thus cause them to join him support city intervention.
Sorry Tim, they are not going to come around to your point of view. They perceive the city as being beholden to REBNY, and thus cooperating with the city helps the devil.
They view you as stupid for not seeing the world as they do.
You view them as stupid for not perceiving the world as you do.
It is time for Eric Adams and/or Laurie Cumbo to stop the playground fight, without punishing anyone for their behavior.
-
Tim left out 90 Sullivan Place on that list of developments.
He also doesn't think the Associated at Sullivan and Nostrand is long for this world either. -
Because I do not think parts of the neighborhood could hear the news from me, a big part of me wants to have the Big 16 published by Our Time Press and Caribbean Life.
The article would tell them that no one is coming to the rescue, and they should not believe any prophet who tells them otherwise.
Then, I would hire local teenagers to put the articles under every door and windshield wiper north of Foster Avenue, and hope that the notice would cause them to make decisions that allowed them to fare better than they otherwise would.

BTW, here is more info on the Mayor's attempt to change the zoning code to allow greater density.

-Which some community members are upset over, because they (often)
believe they will be priced out of their homes, because they would
receive the facet of development that would result in them being priced
out.
-And other community members are in favor of, because
they (often) believe that the only way we are going to lower housing
costs is by increasing supply and/or because they own property that
would benefit from the new rules.
