What kind of restaurants do you want to see in plg?

A GOOD Thai place, Middle Eastern, Japanese/sushi.
-
I'd like to see a real deal Korean place. No "nouveau Brooklyn" chic, no gimmicks. Like straight outta K-Town. (Though if it must be just a little nouveau Brooklyn, the place should brew its own makgeolli.)
-
P.S. If a Korean restaurant is not in the cards, then your business partner should work with the cuisine which they are most familiar with, so that the place is delicious. Be true to yourself.
-
I was also going to add Korean, but I thought I may be asking too much.
I think all neighborhoods need a few good Thai places and we don't have any. If they opened a good one it should be a big hit both for delivery and dine in. I really don't like Sweet Basil at all. For sushi, I'd like something more standard than Silver Rice. Colala has poor reviews so I've never gone.
And I agree with grwd, I'm kind of done with that brooklyn chic thing. It would be nice to have some authentic, simple ethnic eateries. We have a lot of Carribean, but very little else. -
What about edible Mexican food?I'd also love a place like Zito's Sandwiches in the area.
-
What would the hours be for this potential new restaurant? Would it be available for dinner service?
I'd like a place that has customizable salads (among other things). -
I'd go out of my way for a legit Tex-Mex place since Brooklyn amazingly has around 0 of them that I'm aware of.
-
also ... a nice restaurant with a good beer/wine list where I can get dinner before or after a show at Kings Theater would be awesome.

I'm partial to bars with food so more places like blue bird but not so much like midwood flats

Haven't been to Blue Bird. Why do you prefer it over Midwood Flats? -
I like Bluebird. Unpretentious, good food, good prices on drinks and food, cozy, and has a neighborhood bar feel. Big problem is the ventilation. It gets too smokey.
-
Bluebird is going to very popular this summer as a result of their backyard.

I think we need a very nice, very standard restaurant with a bar. Right now we have 2 nice bars with restaurants (midwood flats and bluebird) but they are lacking in a lot of ways. Midwood has a limited menu and is a small space, whereas bluebird has a large awkward space and a peculiar unfocused menu.Something with a bistro vibe would be great. primarily about dinner, and sort of secondarily about drinks. Maybe italian or french. And honestly i wouldn't say no to "new american"--we don't really have one yet. I think a lot of people's gripes about it are mainly about how ubiquitous that is in other neighborhoods, but we are not other neighborhoods. I think we need at least one place with a fancy burger that comes with fancy fries before anyone can start complaining.I would only want another sushi place if it was again, a sit down japanese restaurant. we have a lot of good take out options i frequent but no where that i would sit and spend money on drinks and stuff.basically, what i'm getting at is that i feel like there's only one true restaurant in the hood (Bluebird) and i'm not crazy about it. the rest are bars or otherwise weird hybrids. which is fine, but i want a regular restaurant with a full bar.

oh, also i've been dreaming of another Zaytoons location in PLG *__* hands down the one thing i miss most about living in Prospect Heights. Something like Zaytoons would be ideal!
-
looks like we have another mexican place el patron opening soon in the old lpt ... hope its better http://theqatparkside.blogspot.com/2015/03/nacho-mothers-tacos.html

I'd love to see a vegetable-focused seasonal restaurant w/ cocktails. Or Middle Eastern. Or Thai. Or Mediterranean. Whatever it is, I hope the vegetarian option isn't a sad veggie burger.
-
I hate to use this word but blue bird just feels more "authentic" to me. Plus, the wood burning fireplace is great. Midwood flats is a good bar and I think it will be successful because it's clearly run by people who run bars but the end result feels a little corporate to me. Just my opinion, and I still go there sometimes.I'm partial to bars with food so more places like blue bird but not so much like midwood flats

authentic in which way? i can really put my finger on what blue bird is supposed to be. but yes i do really like their fireplace. sometimes you can smell it from the subway station; it's nice
-
A good diner!
-
hmm if they were a diner they'd have toast and french fries(seriously what's up with their NO TOAST EVER rule; it's off-putting)
-
Once I realized they had terrible ventilation, I figured the no toast and fries rule may be due to that. It's already super smokey as it is.

I think that's the appeal, it's a little odd, not sure what it's trying to be but all the while pleasant.I've always thought the no toast thing was a bit of a joke. Agreed, no fries is off-putting, I heard maybe they'll have them in the summer. -
I am so not picky about the cuisine. I'd just loveeeee to see a nice, clean restaurant with good food and drinks.
-
No, I meant we NEED a good diner....
