Feedback re: Berman Realty in Park Slope
Hello!
I'm looking for information on Berman Realty in Park Slope. I've searched around, but can't find any recent feedback. They seem to own numerous properties, and all of their reviews on Yelp and Facebook are positive, but when I've spoken to some locals in the area they do not appear to be well-liked.
Thanks!

Hi- Me and my now husband lived in a brownstone apartment owned by the Bermans for several years. I had a pretty bad experience with them. Mostly with one of the sons. I think his name was Mark. The elder Berman (Joe?) was generally pleasant to deal with but he makes his sons deal with the tenants.Obv this is all just my experience and its pretty specific but here it is. We moved out about 2 years ago mostly because I wanted a dog and we weren't allowed to have one under our lease. But I also wasn't happy that our rent kept going up given that we had a mouse problem and the buildings/apartment were not well maintained. The floors were falling apart and the ceiling leaked-badly- on us on two different occasions. One time a big portion of it collapsed over our bed, ruining our mattress. :Like there was a huge hole in our ceiling. They acted like it was my fault that the pipes burst. On at least 2 occasions the entire building didn't have heat in the middle of winter for several days in a row and when I told them about it they yelled at me for not telling them sooner. The main problem I had with them was this rudeness whenever I approached them with a problem. Never once did they say "oh I am sorry you don't have heat, we will get right on that".They always wanted us to sign the new lease four months in advance and would get really pissy when we said we didn't know yet if we were staying another year. And when we moved out they kept about $400 dollars of my security deposit because they said that we left trash in front of the building and they had to pay to have it moved, which was complete BS. I left the apartment itself spotless and took pictures of it but it never occurred to me to take pictures of the outside of the building. I called the company they claimed came to move the trash and they had no recollection of moving any trash from that building. But I was tired of dealing with them at that point and chose not to pursue it.
