Burgers UrWay has just told the DOH that they have (or will soon have) a kitchen worthy of inspection.

    There was a Burger Ur Way on Utica, for about a year, but it seemed to struggle, sold out to another owner, and then apparently went out of business. The burgers were made to order and were, for a medium priced burger, not too bad, especially when I could convince the "chef" that I really did not want a well done burger.

    This place should give Dutch Boy some competition.

    I'm just happy it isn't going to be another mexican place.

    Just walked past this place and they look ready to open!  The coolers were fully stocked with drinks, televisions displaying their menu were on and several employees were cleaning and manning the computers behind the counter. 

    I wonder when their inspection is going to occur.  They seem to be champing at the bit..

    Of their handful of locations in brooklyn, nearly none break 3 stars. It will be a greater victory for the neighborhood when this place shuts down due to not fitting in. Then  they can take their  boring businesses to Staten Island where there basic fare can be appreciated.  Everybody wins.

    We don't have a lot of chain fast food in the square formed Vanderbilt, Atlantic, Nostrand and EP.

    The arrival of Burger Urway makes me think a Subway sandwich place is in our future.

    Dutch Boy could really use a good kick in the ass. I felt like it's gone down hill lately. Last time a friend and I went we were told to eat in the Franklin side since they were busy. Bouncer wouldn't let us cross the hallway connecting the two so we had to go around. We get there and are told they're changing servers. Longish story short half of us give up and don't get food.  

    Hopefully this place provides better service. I just wonder if they'll be open late enough to actually compete with Dutch Boy.

    Dutchboy is also something like $12 for a burger.

    I have the sense that this place will be a little more upscale than Checkers, but less fancy than Bark.

    I could be in the market for an artery clogging combo for meal $10, and that is on the menu.

    There was actually a subway just south of Eastern Parkway on Franklin for a while, but it closed a little while back.  Maybe there's enough demand north of EP for one to be more successful at this point.

    I'd put Subway on Washington, next to Yummy Taco. It is a pretty big mexican chain that seems to be Asian operated.

    Maybe.

    It was not leased through the realtors I usually watch, and it never went thru a plywood facade stage. So, it didn't hit my radar until yesterday, when I saw a somewhat recent DOH inspection request. They seem to have gotten an inspection date quickly, and passed it on their first try.

    So, they had advantages that stem from operating other locations, but likely worked on the location for a few months while I was jabbering about other things.

    I tried it today. It is a solid burger place, like 5 Guys.

    I ate there, but was impressed they already had two delivery guys with some activity.

    I second whynot. I was skeptical because of the silly name, but the burgers were juicy and made with fresh, unfrozen meat; the fries were sliced in front of me; the lemonade was made that day; and there are a lot of options to choose from. I wish the tables were a bit nicer, but I was pleasantly surprised. There are several fish options, and my next meal is the crab cake.

    Definitely something that I'll keep in mind (especially as the closest 5 Guys is a cool mile from where I am). How many fries do you get at that price? If I'm paying all that money (5 Guys' money), I'd at least expect 5 Guys' portion sizes, both for burgers and fries. Say what you want about 5 Guys, but you at least have a large meal for what you're paying. As far as this place is concerned: if the burger size, from the picture above, is any indication, I doubt that this place gives you as many fries as 5 Guys does, a major negative in my book.

    Ok. So how are the portion sizes at this place relative to Five Guys?

    A little smaller. They probably don't have the same purchasing power as 5 Guys.

    Ok, cool. I'm not ruling them out, but that does weigh against a decision to eat there. Heck, I rarely want to spend $13 on burgers, fries, and a drink at Five Guys, but I at least know that I'll be getting more than my fill there!
