And insanity like this (thankfully I haven't read anything about people being hit by bullets) is a huge reason why I support the change that is going on in the area. When we first moved into the area (granted, we are at Washington, and so are a bit removed from these events on Nostrand, but the point is that even my area was not so different not too long ago), gang activity (mainly members of local Crips branches selling drugs and engaging in other illicit activity, including violence) and general violence was much, much more of a problem that it is today. No, I don't like seeing long-time residents being priced out, but I can't argue with the results that are seen in terms of less violence/crime in the area now that more affluent individuals are moving in. Luckily, we bought our home and are secure (we certainly couldn't afford to buy in the neighborhood today), and so can experience/live/benefit from the change in circumstance. But, I tell you, it was not fun in the days of old. I never want to return to that again.

Ah yes it is spring isn't it?

It certainly is. 'Tis the season for:
Gunshots
Flowers
Arguments between people who love music and who love quiet.
Attractive and unattractive people with very little clothing. -
I love the smell of gentrification in the morning.

More unnerving news-- A 21 yr old woman hung herself on her fire escape at Utica and Prospect Pl. this morning. Apparently she was disturbingly left for over an hour visible from the street until being removed.

It was a violent weekend: http://7online.com/news/12-people-hurt-overnight-in-new-york-area-shootings/669087/
I wonder if suicides go up during warm weekends as well. It would not surprise me. -
It certainly is. 'Tis the season for:
Oh gosh, I love this comment. I guess that is why I moved to the bucolic wilds of Northern Sunset park. Its quiet here, but the trade off is I have to trek to south slope 5th and 20s for good bars.

I guess I am too poor to have it all -
Too Poor is measured via more than one metric.
When all the metrics are calculated, you may not qualify for the label. -
You know Nosyrand Ave is changing when one of the goods being hawked are locally made, delicious cupcakes!!!

If we are going to start selling locally made, delicious cupcakes, this Nostrand song will no longer be appropriate:
