Call for Change -- Only 13 days left until the election!

Election Day is only a month away. Republicans got you down? Had enough? Want to do something about it?

MoveOn.org has opened a New York organizing office! We need volunteers to Call for Change. Come do your part to help make 5,000,000 calls nationally in the 30 most competitive House races between now and Election Day, November 7. I did my first shift yesterday. It was fun and exhilarating, because even though we live in the bluest of blue states, it was clear that we can help turn the tide elsewhere.

Call Michelle at 347.495.6005 to schedule a shift – or twenty. And tell your friends! We can do it this November – and we must.

There are offices in other cities as well, for those of you who don't live in New York or who have friends elsewhere who might be interested. Michelle can tell you where they are.

    not sure when the deadline is for absentee ballots

    This is definitely "and beyond" and probably not that many people will be interested in going this far, but I'm most likely going to spend a few days in Wisconsin before the election doing some get-out-the-vote volunteer work on their marriage amendment. There's a good chance that the amendment will be defeated there -- the best chance of beating one that any state's had so far -- and I think it's hugely important not just for Wisconsin but for the entire country to see that these things aren't inevitable and impossible to fight off.

    The people fighting the amendment in Wisconsin are very well-organized and committed and have been working their asses off on this for many months. Maybe some of the many Wisconsin folks and/or LGBT folks on this site would consider donating a little moolah to the Fair Wisconsin campaign?

    So you don't have to actually go to the office to make calls. You can go to http://pol.moveon.org/phone/volunteer/c4c.html or www.callforchange.org to do it from home at your convenience. Remember, it's three hours earlier in California, so you can call up 'til midnight if you want.

    Only 13 days left until the election. We're closer than we've been in a decade, with formerly solid Republican seats either tied or leaning Democrat now. Calls reminding people to vote will make the difference.

    Sorry to keep pushing, but we actually have a chance this time. This is a great opportunity to do something that can really work. Think about it, then click on one of the links. Go ahead; you know you want to.....
