I emailed Rachel from DNA Info asking her about the video disappearing and this is her verbatim response:

"Hi I just spoke to the man who recorded it... He said he pulled it because
Shirley patterson's audio was very low and he wants to try to fix that and
    repost it.

I recorded the audio but not video."

I had no problem hearing Shirley when I watched it at my desk.  I have a feeling the video may not be coming back for public viewing.

    @lilern
    It is back:
  • I've got a small forest worth of trees shoved in my mailbox in the form of campaign fliers over the last couple weeks. It's truly disgusting to be quite frank. The candidates are pretending to care oh so much about everyone in Crown Heights but they couldn't care less about the environment.
  • @whynot - Of all the endearing things you've said over the years, this is right at the top:

I tend to think people who believe elections are about "trust" or "responsiveness" are odd.

People who vote are odd—that is to say, they are a small percentage of the American population, and New York has one of the lowest turnouts in this country. But a large percentage of people who do vote want a representative who is responsive. I can send Tish James a text message, and she will respond. I remember years ago I called her office at 6:30 pm, and she answered the phone herself. Yes, I remember this ancient event because she was literally "responsive."

I don't know where you get the idea that Diana will have a "great time poking fun at the Brooklyn democratic machine." She is part of the Clarke machine, and how much joy have those guys bought you?

Oh, and here's the most recent news from the Lubavitch part of the district. It looks like Patterson continues to chip away at Mendy's base:

There are many reasons to vote, and I am among the minority who do.

However, I can't say I vote because I find politicians very helpful or responsive.

I do find them entertaining, and that is the majority of what I have come to expect of them.

    Many of them deliver.

Here's where you can watch the poll results:

    http://nyenr.elections.state.ny.us/home.aspx
(change the setting to State Assembly)    It doesn't refresh itself, you have to click refresh.

Active Registered Voters: 67,883.    Another 60,000 could register, but have not.

Let's see if can get more than total 10,000 votes cast...
  • Unless the outstanding districts are primarily Orthodox districts and they go overwhelmingly for Raitport, then I think Diana Richardson has this thing in the bag.

Election Districts Reporting: 37 of 51

  • 40 of 51 districts now reporting.   Diana way ahead, Mendy in a tie with Shirley.

    ...my prediction could come true.

NY1 just called for Richardson. While I was hoping for a Raitport upset, this result doesn't exactly shock me given how engaged/personable Richardson was during the campaign. Now let's make sure to hold her to her promises!

Davis, who incidentally was the candidate backed by MTOPP (I got one of their fliers bashing the other candidates while praising Davis while walking into Planet Fitness on Flatbush), got slaughtered. I didn't expect that.

There's no way she can keep her promises.

  • Voting a particular way is keeping her promises to me; I don't expect her to get much done and actually have her way. I'm more concerned that she's going to be principled and not take up positions contrary to her hard-line campaign promises once sworn in. Yes, I know there's compromise to be had, but we'll see.

I think Diana will be entertaining.   I am kind of disappointed that Mendy didn't make a better showing.   I really thought he would get 2nd place, and Shirley 3rd.

    ...he still might beat Shirley.

It doesn't look like we will reach 10,000 total votes cast.

With 51 of 51 districts reporting, Davis has brought in a total of 308 votes.     I predicted he would lose, but didn't realize he would lose that badly.

I also radically over predicted the number of people who would vote, at around 11,000.   ...only about 8200 did so.

  • Meanwhile, while thanking everyone who campaigned for him, Mendy states:

"Close to half of our active voters showed up on Election Day, which is a statistic that is almost unheard of."

  • And, the winner beams with joy at her accomplishment:

The Chabad site takes a retrospective look at what they (ie Mendy's formal and informal campaign) could have done better:  http://chabadinfo.com/opinions/46293/
