591 Franklin (at Pacific) finally gets a commercial tenant: Broccoli Farm
When this commercial space was first renovated, we wrote about it:

Since then, it has remained vacant and for lease. Now, it is reportedly in the process of becoming something called Broccoli Farm.

A green awning has been mounted, and it sounds as if it will be an upscale fruit and vegetable market. Sorry, no photo of a green awning, I only have this old one:

Mmmm... broccoli.

-
Artisanal small batch broccoli
-
Vegetables lit up like jewelry, under designer lighting
-
Looks like a "gourmet deli."
-
I think they will stock Carrs crackers.
Here is a before shot:
-
I went for an in person look today:
They have now built one of those plexiglass sidewalk enclosures to sell flowers outside.
They are almost fully stocked with nonperishable groceries on the inside (ie Kellogg's cereals).
Veggies and perishables look like they could arrive this week.
FWIW, owners could be Korean; They may have other locations based on the expertise that is being displayed.
So, it will be very similar to Nam's on Franklin, or Natureland on Flatbush.
-
Word has it there will also be a coffee bar and prepared food.
Customers will have the ability to eat in: Tables, chairs.
Progress on this place is moving forward everyday.... -

It looks lovely. Juice bar, deli, produce looks fresh and priced lower than Compare. I wish them luck, they're certainly making the north part of Franklin more attractive and will reap the benefits of all the development going on up there when it hits.

Beer?
-
Answered my own question: getting beer this week. They just got their permit. Looks like a nice place, with good cheap produce.

I wouldn't count on a spot that's open 24/7 keeping prices too low. Still, if they truly do have reasonable prices now, I guess I'll take advantage of them for the time being.
Howdy, Stranger!
