whats weird about your apartment?

i have a weird "nook"... about 2 1/2 feet wide, 6 feet long, with a window at the end facing the air-shaft. basically, i covered the window with a dark shade, filled with place with shelving, and hung a curtain at the opening so it's a big closet. except it always gets messy and it's kind of a waste of a window.

yeah I think the weirdest thing about my apartment is the things our landlord has just neglected to do... no smoke alarms or CO2 detectors yet, so we have live wires hanging from the ceiling; the tub stoppers don't work; the fans in the bathroom don't work; the outside electric doesn't work; oh and no mailbox!!
oh haha and someone said 'the people looking in my window'... yeah we're on the 1st floor and I think the weirdest thing is reading in the living room and looking up to see some little girls' face staring at me, asking, "where's the doggy??" -
my apartment is totally sloped. i hate if i ever spill things, because it runs from one end of the apartment to the other in like 2 seconds. ive gotten used to it, but whenever people come over it bugs them out. entire building was built this way i guess, because the ceilings arent straight... its like, the foundation of the building is on a funny angle!

Every other day someone plays saxophone near my apartment, it is quite lovely. Unfortunately my windows don't stay open

Every once in a while I hear someone playing the clarinet, or singing scales. The weird thing is that I only hear these people about once a month. Shouldn't they be practicing more often? They'll never get to Carnegie Hall at that pace. -
my apartment has a lot of molding about a foot from the ceiling in all the rooms except the living room and one wall in my bedroom. In the entranceway in the space between the molding and the ceiling, there is a old-school fire-alarm, looks like a school bell, with no wires attached and painted over hundreds of times. I don't know what date it is from or how it worked.. The Building was built in 1928 I believe.
Also, my toilet is crooked, jutting towards the center of the bathroom from the wall, and I have an old water-stop for the bath tub (a big silver mechanism outside of the tub). also I had two phone jacks that were just for show, because I took them off and there was just blank wall behind them.
This is a pretty great 6 story building-- all being renovated, but I think it might go Co-op. -
My last place, a garden apartment, had a (nonworking) yellow emergency phone box on the outside back wall by the kitchen door.

oh yea- and our microwave is haunted-it turns itself on and types number in and then will cook nothing.
We have to unplug it. -
My upstairs neighbor likes to play various types of music, fairly loud, mainly reggae, jazz, etc.. which is fine.. it's when she starts to sing Bob Marley at the top of her lungs that makes me want to record it for American Idol rejects.

i can relate. One time there was R&B bass pounding SO loudly that I actually went up stairs to knock on the door.....
the tenant was an overweight old woman in her 70s, alone, and sweating profously. I think i interrupted her workout, but I don't want to hear Brian McKnight thru the ceiling at 9am.. -
I have 3 smoke detectors in my apartment: one at the FAR end of the apt, one in the kitchen and one in my bedroom (near the kitchen)
Everytime I use the oven the smoke detector at the FAR end goes off and won't stop beeping-- very frustrating. I used to panic and furiously wave a towel on it until it momentarily stopped.
Now I have a new system rigged using a fan to continously blow on the detector until I'm sure the apt has cooled down. Meanhwile the other detectors close to the oven never go off. -

Check the battery in the other 2, they may have been dead.
