Classic bodega on the SW corner of EP and Franklin will soon be replaced by a Dunkin Donuts

Photo of prior bodega, in new location a few doors south

-
They were in there yesterday stripping down the space. I took a pic, but Brooklynian doesn't seem to let me post pictures. I'll try to send it to @whynot_31 to see if he's able to post it.
-
The problem is Brooklynian won't let you post high def photos. It will let you post it if you reduce the size to less than something like 150k.

-
Gotcha. I generally try to post from my phone and I'm not sure if I'm able to change the size of the photo on my phone or not.
-
The trick is to email photos to yourself. Your email will ask you if want to shrink them, say "yes" and then save the received version. Then upload those breaking news photos of construction guys, excavators, etc to be as cool as me.
-
Does anyone know the projected opening date and if they will have outdoor seating in the front (EP side)?

Gotcha. Thanks for the tutorial! -
Progress toward the completion of outside eating area is now evident.

I don't know if there was a separate thread for the bodega that moved out of this space, but the guy in the new space said that they will be getting beer in there eventually. I know that others had also mentioned this being the only bodega that sells reasonably priced beer on the first few blocks south of EP, so I wanted to pass along the good news.
-
I hope the bodega owner was paid top dollar to give up his corner space for his new space.
...maybe he received a long extension of his lease at the present terms, or something?
BTW, the NYT ran an article today on how bodegas are being replaced by chain stores:

The signage for Dunkin Donuts is now up!

-
The grand opening is today.
This location seems smaller than the one on Empire Boulevard. I didn't see any seating inside; there really isn't any room. -
I have heard that this location is run by the same folks that operate the one at Nostrand and Eastern Parkway.
I wonder if they run the one by MEC and on Empire as well. If so, I will refer to them as the Crown Heights Donut Kings. -
It's too bad they went with the high fence on this one. The Nostrand version doesn't have those. Much less welcoming and aesthetically uglier.
-
what fencing? granted i was walking on EP and franklin on the north side, but didnt see any fence from where i was
-
An updated, close up photo is warranted. My dog and I will be up to the task by around 6 PM.
-
So, there is limited seating inside. Either I didn't notice it yesterday or the seats were not there yesterday.
The fence surrounds the outdoor seating area directly adjacent to the shop. (I imagine the outdoor seating area will largely be obsolete in two to three months.) -
Not so fast: Maybe they will sell hot chocolate.

"For the eighth consecutive year, Dunkin Donuts tops our list as the largest national retailer in New York City, with a total of 568 stores. Over the past year, Dunkin Donuts had a net increase of 32 stores in the city (a 6 percent gain). Amazingly, Dunkin Donuts now has 124 more store locations than any other retailer in the five boroughs. "

A report I heard few months back stated there was one DD for every 10,000 people in NYC.
-
Given that the city is growing, they are going to need to keep opening new stores to maintain that ratio.
-
Well, originally the franchise agreement said there would only be one DD every eight miles (or four miles on each side) but I figure that's changed since many of the owners have multiple stores and I guess they're making sure there's no other competition. They must outnumber Starbucks by quite a number.

This store has been "Grand Opening" since August.
